What is this whine I am hearing?

Hi all,

My Giulia Veloce has only done 500 miles. I am hearing a whine in the background when I take my foot off the throttle. Even if going on normal 30mph roads. No need to accelerate quickly necesarily to get the noise. That is when it is obvious as less wind noise.

Cheers all.

That link relates to a Quadrifoglio diff which is a completely different design from that in the OP's Giulia Veloce.

Re-position the air vents on your dash and see if that does the trick. I thought I was going nuts with a low whistle/whir between 10-30 mph but turned out to be coming from passenger side vent.

and see if the noise is related to HVAC fan speed or selection of HVAC recirculate

If the air con is left to re-circulate in either A/M modes (LH dial button for changing selection), there can be a whistling whine above ~ 50mph which goes away as soon as you turn of re-circ. That is what Andy is referring to above.

Hi guys,

I tried playing with the air con thing, but no luck. It is more of a whirl than a whine.

If I am on a small residential street with houses either side, the noise is more prominent as a more confined area and easier to hear. It is very obvious, so will be easy to show a technician I'd say. Tried recording it with no luck, but may be able to do somewhere quiet and enclosed.

I am going to hazard a guess that it is the turbo - which would mean something isn't right the way it sounds! It does it at all speeds/acceleration, as soon as you take your foot off the pedal. Normal driving through the gears does not result in any sound that I can notice.
