Self opening Veloce. Should I be concerned?

So, here I was, walking towards my Veloce, parked at the same place as everyday. My keyless entry activated. Key in my pocket.

But this time, the Giulia opened itself as I was about a meter away from the door...

Could the key have been pressing on the open button in my pocket? Or is that the sign that someone has hacked it?

Anyone knows
How those hacks are done?

(My keys are always in a faraday cage when theyíre not on my pocket)

Since you say that you were 1 meter away, could be that door handle detected as if you touched it. Maybe faulty door handle sensor or some water/rain on it?

It happens to me when i rinse the car with water with key in pants.

Damp conditions? I can unlock the door with a jet of water from a hose.

I have unlocked my car many times when the keys have been in my pocket, though usually it has been while parked at home. I think I have now learned not to keep the keys in my pocket any longer than strictly necessary.

Garage
just today I left Giuli at the parking, and when I did one more look at her after crossing the road, I noticed boot is open. Yes, I had plenty of stuff in my pocket, so while walking something must pressed the boot openning twice. Its not the first time, and as I'm not using fob buttons at all (have keyless entry option) I'm considering to open the key fob and cut track to boot opening button - I do not want to find out one day that I left it open when it was heavy rain or snow or with valuable stuff exposed to fans of somebody elese's belongings.

I have stopped putting my keys in tight pockets because this happens to me especially boot opening!

Self opening Veloce. Should I be concerned?

Hmmmmm... ( a concerned Hmmmmm)

Yesterday I walked back to my car at the office and it was unlocked.
Now this did not happen since my last post but I have not been in the office since my last post due to travel.

Bizarre and unnerving...

Today I locked the car and immediately put the key in my RFID pouch. Checked it - itís locked.

Letís see...

Also try turning off the keyless entry to see if that stops it. If you keep the key in a faraday pouch then it's pointless having it on anyway; might as well just turn it off then you don't need to keep putting the key into and taking out of the pouch everytime you want to drive it.

The faraday cage is only for storage.

This is interesting because I come back to my car semi often and think it is weird I didn't lock my car.

Btw, are you locking it with a key fob or via door handle? Do you have an alarm in your car?

Button on the Key fob, I am cool enough to have the car unlock itself as I approach and not old school enough to use the key in the door handle.
