I have recently seen a Brera for sale at a good price. This is an S model but does not have the prodrive wheels, instead it has 19" ti's. Everything else about it points to a prodrive model but unsure if prodrive models had any other wheel options? I have called the dealer but he seems unsure about any questions I ask. Can any one else help?
Probable no, it’s likely not a Prodrive and just got the interior and badges. The alloys were developed specifically for the project and saved a few kgs per corner, they’re an important piece in the puzzle - unlikely a previous owner would swap them.
Thanks for this, I am wondering if its a model thats had a few spare bits bolted on at time of sale. I think this has been mentioned before on this site. As it has the leather stitching and dash, the s badge etc
5 kilos per corner apparently (compared to 19in TIs) so not to be sniffed at...especially on un-sprung weight. I do know someone who swapped there Prodrives to TIs for two reasons....one (like me) he does not like any of the Alfa wheels with any sort of horseshoe effect and secondly they were mint and completely unmarked and he wants to keep them that way for resale value....he hardly drives it for the same reason. To me that like not banging your supermodel girlfriend to keep her tight for the next guy....but there you go!! Cars are built to be driven....not polished in a heated garage!
Haha love that way of putting it. Might still go and have a look at the car anyways. Is it true you have more headroom when the pan roof is blocked out by the headlining?
No idea if it is real or not, but that person could be doing the same thing I am doing, swapping between TI and horseshoe wheels on a winter/summer tyre cycle.
On a side note, people are incredibly passionate about the TI wheels on the 159, I literally got yelled at multiple times by complete strangers for ruining the cars looks during summer time, when the horseshoes are on...
There are some very late models badges S which are not Prodrive models. Think they may be run out models so have nice touches like leather dash but they did not have Prodrive set-up.
I’ve seen one advertised that had the weedy 17inch alloys but had a leather dash and was badged S when o looked up the reg (it was an 09/59 reg if I remember correctly).
