Hole in Brera intake manifold

Hi all very new to the page as have just brought myself a Brera 3.2 V6. Love the car but always felt it was holding back a little, I thought this was just cos it was over due a service so got it done straight away. During the service they found a hole in the intake manifold (gear box end I'm told) and also a crack where it's bolted to the engine which when unbolted that part comes off and you can see into the engine its self.
It's gone back to the dealer I brought it from to be sorted and booked in next week to be fixed, however he's telling me that the hole is meant to be there and is part of the design of the manifold. Now I have very little idea about mechanics of cars but that doesn't sound right to me?
I have attached a picture to help show what I'm talking about, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If it’s cracked then it’s been over tightened after changing spark plugs, not sure if the holes meant to be there or not but it’s a cast piece

Not sure of the V6, but looking at that pic, that doesn't look like a natural casted slit/hole, that looks like its been snapped off. Any V6 owners that can confirm?

More photos of a 3.2 inlet manifold here but I can't see anything like the hole that seems to be in your one:

That's great thank you, once I turn my picture on the angle it seems the hole is in the same place the one you've pictured is. Confident that should been there and it's only the crack in it they'll have to fix. Thank you for all your help though much appreciated
