Greetings,

According to VIN (159 1.9JTS)

the part numbers for battery are :

71 751 146

71 751 141

71 751 149

71 751 150

a little bit confused here wich one is the correct one ?

Is it correct? Most places I've tried bring up a wrongly fitting battery when putting in the reg. I think you need a 115 size battery for a 159.

I fitted this one

https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/exide/ea900/

Which fits the tray perfectly. Most of the auto finders using the reg being up a battery that is much small than the tray so I would double check the dimensions of your tray. The battery I replaced when I got mine was also wrong.

Just to revive this thread in case anyone searches for battery related information in the future. I fitted an Exide EA900 Premium (90AH 720CCA) - it is a perfect sized replacement fit - 315 (L) x 175 (W) x 190 (H) mm. 4 year warranty. It replaced a Bosch S4 800 which was slightly shorter (278mm). This was for a 159 Ti SW 2.0 JTDm

Sorry, didn't see it was a petrol but no doubt if someone searches 'battery' or 'replacement battery' this thread will show up and there is info for both types now - I'll clarify my post however

I will probably get that size batterywhen mine fails! My 2.0 JTDm has had a small (incorrect) battery that should be in the 1.9 petrol! Been like that since before I bought it nearly 2 years ago....no issues so far!!…..but only a matter of time!

Mine had a repacement in it already a Bosch but the car was giving me some signs that the battery was potentially going to give up at some stage soon (infrequent loss of B&ME, flashing odo infrequently ) so with winter coming (here already) I thought I'd bite the bullet.

Is the Exide EA900 Premium an overkill option for the petrol versions ? Actually i can find it with a little more $ compare with the original one ,so my question is is it worth it goint to the Exide ? and what about the fitment i guess its no problem ? Μy current battery is bosch S4005 (needs replacement) wich as mentioned earlier is a little bit smaller than the exide.

One more question is what tool do i need to undo the 13mm nut to the battery strap? (see attached picture).

The Exide probably is overkill for a petrol but is a perfect fit as the dimensions are exactly right - it won't do any harm I imagine if you decide on fitting it. I used the extension bar in my socket set to get the nut off - mine wasn't done up very tight when I removed it.

Been working with a Yuasa tech at the NEC caravan show this week. Very interesting conversations about battery specs and the fact that most of the battery makers don't meet the specs they claim when actually tested. In their tests of the competition only Exide and Bosch passed ALL the tests. He said the 5000 series YBX 5115 would be a good upgrade for my 2.0 JTDm. I think the YBX 3115 was stock spec (but might be wrong...been a busy week). The 5115 is the same size as above.... 315x175x190mm. Going to get one on order. They make the far superior 7000 and 9000 series which are EFB and AGM respectively. But he said they are overkill on my car and only needed on infrequently used cars or cars with stop/start tech. Lots of money too.

Looked at one of those but couldn't find it cheaper than the Exide with delivery & has slightly less CCA but probably not so much as it'd make a difference as bitterly cold winters seem to be a thing of the past in mono-weather UK...............
