More questions about my Brera

Three photos of a button (with what looks like an icon of a car being raised?), a slot (into which the physical key slides in but not sure what it does) and a dial within the space under centre armrest (which turns rather freely) that I cannot make out what they're for!

And the fourth photo: are android connections available?

Help, please?

Also:
1) there a Wiki for the Brera? and

2) is there any way I can get the full specs of the car using the VIN number? (I know that some manufacturers like Peugeot have a website where they give this info; does Alfa have something similar?)

The slot in key holder is for removing the key if it gets stuck, you use the emergency blade to do it.

The dial is for the drinks chiller to turn on and off.

I would assume other end is USB so would be a case of getting appropriate lead for your phone.

As above, although that phone lead looks aftermarket - see if you have a usb plugged in, possibly in glovebox?

The button with the tilted car disarms the interior and tilt sensors on the Alarm.
If it's a hot day and you leave the windows open a fraction you can press it to stop the Alarm going off ever five mins

I called Alfa Romeo UK and added a request for the full specs sheet to my request for the Prodrive letter.

Thank you for your replies!
Will have to look for the USB socket in glove compartment in the morning.

I have a similar connector in the glove box, it connects to an earlier apple iPod.

I can connect my 4th gen iPod touch and can control it from the steering wheel.

The cable terminates to the rear of the factory radio with a small blue ISO plug.

Annoyingly, it doesn't charge the iPod.

Now I'm really annoyed

When plugged in it doesn't show the charging icon

I must try it again as I'm sure it gave me some arsey message on the ipod, that while it's connected, it's not charging.

Phrases like chocolate teapot/fire guards spring to mind.

Well, the glove box lead doesn't do anything except charge my Android phone.
Looking at the stereo I realised that there are no sources other than FM, AM and CD.

I bought a Bluetooth to FM transmitter off eBay, and it works surprisingly well! Crrytak clear sound quality while streaming music.

Just curious:
Is there an aux or usb source option on the stereo?

Do you have a blue&me system? Should show a logo when you start the car, likewise a usb socket in the glovebox?

Pressing CD twice brings up the auxiliary usb input, or media plugged into the usb socket - an android phone should work, but iphone/ipod needs an adapter, about £70-odd quid

Helpful!

No blue and me, nor any other mod cons in a Prodrive, sadly.

The cable is an old Apple data cable. It was used for various iPods and in iPhones up until the 4S. After that they switched to the lightning cable. The button is to be used when the car is being towed.

Brera S 2.2

I bought one of these for my Brera - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No cables needed and good sound quality!

In all honesty, I found the in car entertainment sadly lacking - I have a blue&me system, and thought it was a bit pants.

I swapped mine out for a JVC double din android auto system, which I have found to be excellent - even hooked up a reversing camera, and to be able to use google maps as a satnav - far better than any tomtom/garmin offerings I've had.

Sure, its the KW-M730BT - seems to have everything I require - no DAB, but I couldn't care about that, I don't listen to the radio personally.

I got mine at amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/JVC-KW-M730.../dp/B06XCL9HGT - paid a bit more than that too!

You'll need a fitting kit, but one including the fascia and steering wheel controls was about £60.

I'll try and grab a picture of my (dusty) one fitted at lunchtime.

A modern aftermarket unit is definitely the way to go. Only thing really needed to bring the interior up to date. I went for a Pioneer and it doesn't look out of place, and offers everything I could ever possibly need in a car. Including a radio that I don't listen to...

Thanks for that. I shall look it up.
I'm guessing this will need to be fitted by a professional car audio chap !

All depends how handy you are with tools, once you have the dash section removed and old cage unscrewed from rear the aftermarket head units are pretty much plug and play if you have the correct wiring kit. I used connects2 kit which included the bezel to fit the dash.
I fitted a pioneer to mine, run a microphone along bottom of dash and up the A pillar, sat nav antenna similar way and stuck in corner of dash. USB lead under centre console to the fag lighter that I converted to USB socket.
The reverse camera was hardest bit as it required routing signal cable to rear bumper.

Its all easily doable with basic tools, johnny is right, the bumper is a bit of a pain, and like him, I routed my 2 usbs through the armrest and through to the cigarette lighter.

I didn't get fitting instructions with my fascia kit, and it's not the easiest to glean, so I mangled my cage a bit, but still works fine - so if you don't receive them, have a search, they're online.

I stuck the included microphone into the courtesy light, and the gps antenna onto the screen above the mirror

Here's a couple of pictures of mine doing it's job.

EDIT - Why are the pictures always sideways??!!
