I know this has been debated much in the past, but I have been using Millers Eco Max as a Cetane booster for the last 2 years, and I am happy with the way the engine runs. That said, I always like to look around and make sure I am using the best products I can be and today I found this stuff:

Diesel Rhino is a Premium Eco friendly Diesel Enhancer formulated to improve on today's modern diesel. Diesel Rhino is a Cetane Enhancer, it disperses water in fuel and is an injector cleaner which lubricates the fuel injection system whilst prolonging the life of the engine.

Benefits
Noticeably Increases Engine Power & Performance
Improves Fuel Economy by up to 10%
Injector Cleaner and Fuel System Lubricator - Prolongs Engine Life
Reduces Emissions Drastically
Removes Water from Fuel
Stabilises Fuel Throughout the Year
Suitable for Biofuels and Diesel
Suitable for ALL Diesel Engines
Diesel Rhino WILL save you money.

Extract: Diesel Rhino

Ignoring the obvious sales pitch from the sales site, the manufacturers site seems to have a bit more credibility in what they are talking about: Diesel Fuel Additive | Diesel Rhino - United Diesel, Shropshire

In terms of cost, this stuff is fractionally cheaper than Millers, as 2.5L of this is £60 and would treat 2500ltrs of fuel so it's cost is 0.024p per litre vs Millers, which is £12.99 for 500ml which treats 500ltrs at a cost of 0.025p per litre.

What are the thoughts of the forum on this~?

Never heard of it myself jay but am going back to standard diesel after running v power for many months. I was surprised to see how much luminous additive came out of the water trap when i changed the fuel filter recently  Was going to start using millers again but will watch this thread with interest :)

To be fair that just sounds like a generic list of improvements, suspect 90% of them will have the same additives, so it's down to cost!

I do get good results with the Millers eco max, but it is only due to the Cetane boost. I am interested is seeing if anyone has experience with other additives that increase citane and offer more improvements such as general engine health etc.

I used a bottle of redex 'gold' or some such that cost way too much in a single fill and had no discernible change...
AFTER a bottle of forte DPF cleaner the car has slowly loosened up and after a double dose of forte DPF and a couple of forced regens the car feels (almost) as good as it should.

really a world of diff - see my old posts of whining and moaning about the heavy 159...
I'll try a bottle of millers now and hope for more improvements...

Its arrived, and came with a sticker!

Product Liquid Floor Fluid Room

I'll report back if its any better than millers. I can already see a problem with the bottle design. The long neck of the miller bottle fits perfectly into the fuel filler on the 159, this one will need a funnel if I am going to get the stuff past the overflow hole!

The cost equation is key here. volume = discount of course, but the base cost should only end up being fractions of a pence per litre over cost for something that adds value to the fill up towards better performance, reduced maintenance and overall better running.

For me , it's simply a comparison between premium fuel (diesel in my case) or standard fuel plus the additive and Millers exceeds by miles on price , so it's purely a matter of deciding whether there's an advantage of any sort , either premium or with an additive. I have no doubts there's an advantage so MILLERS is my choice on price alone BUT although subjective , I do feel a difference in throttle response.

Agreed. It sis noticeable after you have run with an additive like millers for some time, then you stop for a few tanks. Tried my first tank of Rhino in tonight. following their 3/2/1 ratio guide so its a tripple dose at the minute, next tank is a double, then we witch to normal 1:1 ratios.

First think I dont like. As anticipated, the bottle is not ideal for easy fill-ups. I used a funnel that kind of helped but it was a faf, and no way near as easy as the better designed millers bottle.

We will see if she runs any better over the next few weeks to see if the trade-off is worth it.

I know its got a triple dose ini t, but it pulls like a train! It is far smoother revving and just feels more eager and refined in general, much better than Millers at this dosage. Will see how the next tank does as its time for a refill and its the double dose stage.

Very interesting and if you end up using it full time , I might try using my Millers at double dose to compare with your result (subjectively anyway) .It will still be the same price per gallon mixed if bought for £9-80 or whatever the price I saw after paying my £12-99.

What I did notice Rob, is that it only started to feel more eager and faster after the first half the tank, up until that point it was like running on Millers, so the cleaning agents in it have clearly done some good as it feels as spriteley as the last time I ran BG244 through a tank. Will have to see what it settles down into with normal dosage in a few tanks time before I conclude any decent baselines of performance.

It would be interesting as well once I have taken this research a little further to get at least one more forum member to try a bottle and see if the results are similar.

So far so good on the Rhino.

I have followed the 3/2/1 mix ratios and am now on my second tank of 1ml:1l. Its running very smooth, quieter and feels like it pulls much harder than it did on the Millers. As a bonus point, it doesn't smell! millers stinks and the smell stays on your hands for ages, this doesn't at all.

Anyone else up for joining the trial?

I had planned to when the thread started. But now seem to have a petrol car instead!

So now need to see if there is anything that can give that a wee boost...

I think someone on here told me about Aderco 5000 a few months ago.
I'm not using it in my car, but I am on my Rayburn.

Has anyone tried it in their car to see how it compares?

Excellent! if we can get a decent section of us trying it out we can work out between us if its worth it vs millers etc. Make sure to do the 3:1 then 2:1 then 1:1 ratios on the first tanks so the control group is the same. Its an astounding 210ml in the first tank then 140ml in the second, but this is to benefit from the injector cleaning aspects of the additive, much like a tank of wynns or BG244.

Another useful point is to add the additive before you fill up so it mixes better in the tank.

Looking forward to hearing different perspectives on this as its easy to see what you want to see sometimes.
