Wave Bought a 155 today, now some questions...

Today I popped down to Carlisle to buy a 2.0 16v 155.

First reactions are that it seems pretty good, and I got it pretty cheap considering the full MOT, but as expected there's a few issues to sort out, any advice much appreciated......

Driver's electric window - starts and stops when trying to get it to move both up and down, with a clicking coming from the right side of the dash when it starts/stops.
Is this a common problem? Any ideas what to investigate first?

Clutch reaction a bit sluggish/unpredicatable at times, perhaps mostly when used quickly.
Is this the clutch master cylinder? Expensive/hassle?

Passenger side mirror out cover missing - where's best to find one usually?

Dash clock blank/messed up - is this fixable or more hassle than its worth?

First - well done on finding one - I didn't need to spend time this afternnon replying about what to look for....

Driver's window - not uncommon, can just be wiring issues, or it can be the control unit under the dash - the thing you hear clicking. if its trying to move its probably not the window motor / mechanism itself..

Try bleeding the clutch first, particularly if the car has been stood...after that - and particularly if when bleeding there appears to be a good pressure - change the slave cylinder...not a difficult job and most factors will carry the slave cylinder. The Master cylinder is a real pain...you don't want to go there.

If its just the outer cover missing from the mirror I can supply one of those.

Dash clock - again I can probably provide one.

Re: Bought a 155 today, now some questions...

About the window: When you push the button, current runs through the motor at a certain level. When the window is mechanically stopped by the door frame the motor stops as well. Current rises considerably, fuses would blow and heat would build up in the motor if the window management did`nt shut the current off, while you`re still pushing the button. That happens because the current runs through a shunt.
When a certain voltage is sensed over the shunt, a relay in which the current goes through is tripped, and you have to push the button again to activate the mechanism.
Now - the window guides in the door probably needs some attention, as the glass gets stuck somehow. Then the current rises etc. etc.
