Hi guys,

I've got a 156 Ti Sport Wagon. I'm thinking about putting wheels spacers on. What do you guys think? Will it ruin the handling etc?

Many Thanks

It will sure up the footing and marginally lower the suspension height due to a small amount of sagging. There will be a slight increase in negative camber and associated tyre wear and the centralising tendency of the wheels will increase. I have 15mm ones on mine and I wouldn't go back but I did fit a metal undertray pretty soon afterwards and a few months later, firmed up the springs.

What size tyres are you running ? Do you get any rubbing on rear arches

Mines lowered 20mm with 225 tyres when fully loaded there is a slight run on rear arches over bumps, I have thought of spacers but am worried about arch clearance

Cheers Nick,

I've got the Ti, its lowered from the factory, so the springs are pretty firm, but i have a feeling that someone has put standard springs on the front, which I need to get sorted. The car is fantastic around corners and islands, If spacers improve the handling, this can only be a good thing :D.

Fitting wheel spacers does not lower the car. handling will be improved. Don't fit 10mm eibach spacers or other brands as they are known to crack sue to the material being too thin. 12mm are ok though and ised a lot on gta's

Yes perhaps in a physics room we could calculate a difference due to mechanical advantage of a lever. In the real world using the values and a 12mm spacer the difference is IMO negligable when the vehicle is at rest. What you may notice is slightly more compliant suspension whilst driving. Maybe. ;)

I only mentioned the slight lowering because prior to fitting spacers, I could (theoretically) go over my local speed pillows at 40mph. After spacers there was some rubbing. That's good solid 'trial and error' advice there :p

Mine is lowered on Eibach Pro Kit. I have Hankook Ventus V12 215s with no rubbing. I had Dunlop Sportmaxx RT 215 before which only rubbed fronts on full lock. I have 15mm spacers on each corner. Not sure if that helps much because you have wider tyres fitted anyway.
