Is it the hinge that has broken ? If so you can use just the hinge and its only an hour long job to replace it. Or if you want to get a new hinge you can buy the fiat 500 hinge for about £8 . If you search gt door handle you will find a post on how to replace just the hinge

not sure if its the hinge, the metal is still intact, its just the front and back part of the handle,as in it completly came off the car,its not just hanging there,i think the only option i have is to replace the whole part,

Nope. The hinge unscrews from the handle at the leading end. Check it out - you'll have a piece of it still attached to the handle.

The hinge fork is the weak part, not helped by the fact it is made of a metal that corrodes and causes the hinge to sieze.

adeb38 is correct, if its broken at the hindge you only need the pivot which is a screw on connection its the same as fitted to the fiat 500 and obtainable from fiat .

If the handle has broken at both ends I'd say you'll need a complete handle, if you are going to use a 2nd hand one it might be worth buying a new hinge & fitting that as it's meant to be made of a different material. It'd be a bit annoying to need to go ripping the door apart again if the hinge broke.

Here's the details for the replacement hinge :

There's also a great "How To" guide here for replacing the part which might be of interest to you or your mechanic https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...dle-broke.html

147 f/l model/gt door handle

just replaced my 147 f/l drivers door handle with a gt handle, it does fit but the internals are different. but as long as the origional barrel & mechanism are ok there are 3 screws that hold them onto the back of the handle & they are interchangable, so a gt handle will fit using the origional 147 barrel & mechanism & vice versa
