Quick question: how much do you estimate it would cost to get the bonnet and the 2 mirrors resprayed?

Usually with bonnet resprays the tops of the front wings are painted and blended down to original paint as well.

I have had quick quotes of NZD $300 for the bonnet, and $180 for each wing for my car. Depending on where you live in the world it could be less, or more. But I would think it is mostly relative to the average wage people earn in a country.

You could probably have a go with the mirrors yourself and some colour matched paint and clearcoat and some sand paper. If it is the black part of the mirror where the paint is flaking off the aluminium that is quite easy to repaint a semi-gloss black. I did my ones with spray cans. Just make sure you remove all old flaking paint and apply a suitable primer.

Thank you all, unfortunately I live in the South, West Sussex more precise.
I was wondering if it's worth applying decals, instead of painting it,I know it's not cheap..
The laquer started to peel off,the red color has been known to be problematic.
The Bonet looks whiteish, and it's getting worse with each season.

If you want something that looks ok at a distance of 5m or more you could give it a go yourself. Surely you can't make it any worse than what it is now.

I gave my bonnet a crack with spray cans, and some topcoat in spray can form. I then sand off the orange peel with 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper and then polished it up with some compound and my rotary machine buffer. I think it cost me about $100 for the colour matched paint, some sand paper, clear coat and polishing compound.

Unfortunately I rushed the prep sanding wise so the finish up close, lets say 1m is not the best if you look for it. But if you walked past it in a car park it would seem ok. Well, a lot better than the peeling that was occurring before. Still, I have seen 'professional' panel beaters work which can be pretty rough as well, if not worse given I was/am a complete amateur with inferior equipment.

Not sure if my abilities can raise up to my expectations,i mean,i am positive i could make it worse than it is now.
I actually thought of trying it myself, but the thought of having to pay to do it properly again, after i mess it up,kind of put me off.
The laquer is not peeling yet,it's just whiteish, like somebody threw a bucket of highly diluted milk on it,or toothpaste, maybe not the best metaphors but i am tired.

Fair enough. Some of my clearcoat is starting to 'go'. It sort of looks like very fine scratches or like a fine spiders web all over the roof of the car. It has not lifted yet.

If you get the work done at a body shop it is better to do it earlier rather than later mainly so there is less prep work needed as all that may be needed is just a light sand and a base coat with some clear coat put on top. When it starts peeling bad then more of the clear will need sanding back and to be removed.

Best go take your car and get an indication from a few (2, or 3) painters to see what they think. Beware of dirt cheap jobs as they are probably too good to be true.
