I am in the process of replacing my lower control arms and cannot get the mounting bolts to line up. It appears the bracket is half a hole too short. Trying to line it up with a screw driver does not work as it wont move far enough to line up.
I did order 147 arms by mistake but i thought they were the same. Are they slightly different in mounting bolt difference?
I currently have everything off. Strut out and drive shaft off so there is nothing in the way but they just don't line up. Are there any other tricks to forcing the bushings over to line up?
You won't get them on unless you loosen off the anti-roll bar bushing bolts as the anti-roll bar prevents you getting the rear mount of the arm in properly.
You don't need to remove the bolts but just loosen them off a lot.
Be very careful with the rear mounts as it is easy to cross thread them.
I have the sway bar loosened off and i can easily get either the rear aluminium bracket bolted on or the front steel bracket but not both. Comparing with the old control arm they are the same except the mounting holes are about 10mm further apart.
I cant see any brand or markings on them other than left and right indications. They may be inferior knock offs. I tried putting the gear puller on one of the bushings and i can pull it into correct alignment but it just springs back. No way i can get the bush to shift. It looks like it was pushed on too far at the factory. A design flaw?
