While replacing the cambelt I've discovered the plastic ends of my crankcase breather tube have disintegrated letting oily fumes puff around the engine compartment.
I also found out the cost of a replacement from EB Spares to be around NZ$250.00 (I couldn't find the cost of an original Alfa one but suspect it will be at least that)
Now you can call me cheap, but that amount for a piece of bent hose does seem a lot.
Has anyone found a more affordable alternative or source?
Worth a try to go to Repco, or Appco and ask if you can go to their big wall of hoses. You might find something suitable there, but I would think not as that is quite a special looking hose with lots of ends.
There's a V6 being wrecked in Auckland. I could see if it still has that part on it if you want second hand. It will be the up coming weekend though.
I also googled the part number from Eb spares, and for me it came up with some Australian website with the hose for ~ $110 AUD. Not sure if it's all legitimate and trustworthy though as the website is 'under construction'.
I think it is genuine. If you google the phone number on that website, it comes up as CL Prestige Restorations in Queensland, further to this they come up on AROC Queenslands website as sponsors.
I haven't been able to contact CL Prestige but I've sent a query to AROC Qld about their current state.I'll keep you posted as to what I find out.Much more reasonable price.Cheers.
Hey ColinF, I picked this up from the car wreckers this weekend in Auckland, let me know if you are interested, otherwise it will end up on our local online auction site. It seems fairly good condition, the hose ends are starting to get hard but they still have some flex to them, after all I managed to remove it from a car in one piece.
Mike you're a hero!
Thanks heaps for taking the time and effort. You can pm me with your email and costs and I'll paypal you and give you an address to get it here.
Thanks again!Colin.
Hi all here, greetings from malaysia. Wish there could be another piece like that floating around. Mine is broken in 3 places and and can hardly be held together any longer by any means. Hi hi.
