Alfa GT 1.9 jtd wont start

The car won´t start. I replaced the engine, i get fuel to the injectors and when i crank it i get some white smoke from the exhaust manifold, but it does not start. I made it run briefly on happy gas.
Rpm signal fine. Checked cambelt. Please help.

White smoke is an indication of unburned diesel fuel!
Are you sure you have the correct fuel presurre at the common rail?

Do you know the history of the replacement engine? Worth a compression check first in my opinion

Possible cam timing but I think history should be considered.

Big holes in one of the injector nozzle tip, see image. I guess the big holes dump all the fuel in one cylinder and no pressure is left for the others. The exhaust pipe, cat and turbo was dripping from diesel after all the cranking.

Need a new injector 0445110243.

That's unusual, to say the least. At least Henrik was on the money and the fault has been found.
Has the engine ever ingested swirl flaps?

No they were still there but two of them had popped out upwards and all the ball joints were worn out so i had to put a new manifold on. I also think it's strange how can the tips melt like that?

Anyway found 4 injectors from a Saab and the engine runs nicely now. Unfortunately there is a new problem. Today is the first time i drive the car since someone gave it to me broken. The clutch was stamped 2010 so i estimated it was replaced about only 60k kms ago so i decided to keep it. The DMF had no backlash in it. Now when the engine develops its full power clutch is slipping so i have to take the gearbox down again. Is that a common problem with these cars? Other than that it seems the mpg is very good and it is really nice to drive.

60k km is less than it should be, unless the donor car was remapped (which might possibly explain the injector damage, too). 60-80k mls is probably about average clutch life. But how the previous owner treated the clutch could make a big difference. Some people ride the pedal, which wears them out fast on any car.
