Insurance on a supercharged 159 3.2

As some of you may have read elsewhere I have booked my car in with Autodelta for the supercharger/brakes/suspension mods on 10th August.

Can anyone recommend any good (i.e. cheap) companies to insure it through. I'll obviously try my own company but I would guess they won't touch it with a bargepole.

I'm 40 with over 15 yrs NCB and only 3 points for speeding which was over 3 years ago.

Any suggestions appreciated as I'll have to have it insured for the drive home from London.

Cheers

If you're an AROC member - try Chris Knott.. if not it may be worth joining.

they will beat any quote you get ...

I'd also have a word with Jano - he will be able to give you some advice...

Let us knwo how you get on...

Banny,
I obtained a quote for my 156GTA with s/c from Adrian Flux which was only marginally more than I was paying without from Chris Knott.
Good luck

Hi,
Try Adrian Flux we have specialist insurers that are competitive with mods etc.

Try A-Plan; they seem to be manned by humans who are enthusiastic about cars, and understand the difference between a well engineered upgrade and a Halrauds magnet.

Re: Insurance on a supercharged 159 3.2

Adrian Flux are looking for a quote for me, Chris Knott won't touch it because it's kept on a road. Swinton modified are asking all sorts of questions like how many mm has it been lowered by!

I'm 40 with 17 years NCB and only 3 pts from over 3 years ago - I don't know how the young uns get insurance at all

mave I will give A-Plan a ring.

Good luck, there are a few branches of A-plan, the one I use is on 0845 071 1234.

Re: Insurance on a supercharged 159 3.2

Rang around a few companies Adrian Flux, A Plan, MCE, Hyperformance, The Policy Shop. Ranged from £765 to £1,050 for SD&P and business use.

Am going for Adrian Flux at £765 - seem to have the best policy and price and low excess (£350 total) and is on a like for like basis. Added my wife on the car too which is £100 cheaper - I don't understand unsurance companies sometimes.

My present insurer wants about £500 with the car standard so the extra £250 isn't too bad.
