Reading the thread below, this idea struck my mind.

The pod is pretty easy to get to no matter where you are in the UK.

They do run what you brung days at the weekend (usually sunday) pretty much throughtout the year.

Would be a good idea for a day out and a laugh for all you alfisti out there!

What does everyone think?

Would anyone be intersted?

im 5 minutes down the road from the pod, so i'll pop in :)

Worth remembering that it costs £10 per PERSON to get in regardless of if you are running your car or not.

I went a couple of times last year and it was a good laugh, My advice would to plan a date well in advance and try to make some account of the weather conditions.... It can get really cold there and if it starts raining thats usually the day down the pan. (though they do use track driers where possible)

Would be good to meet a few people from here and tip the balance away from the usual crowd there and see a few alfas for once!!!

The only thing you need to go drag racing at the famous Santa Pod Raceway is a valid UK driving licence, £10 for admission and a £20 signing-on fee. You'll be entitled to unlimited runs or as many as your nerves will allow! After each run you'll receive a personal performance print-out showing your reaction times to the start lights, ¼ mile and 1/8 mile times, 0-100mph and top speed. If you really get hooked you could then apply for a competition licence and enter a street class at a proper race meeting because, don't forget, the RWYB days are how most of the professional racers get started.

For further information call Santa Pod on (01234) 782828.

Venue normally opens at 8.00am with track runs starting at 9am - 5pm.

NB: Don't forget your driving licence! Helmets required for RWYB bikes and open top cars.

I am up for that, been to a few before but never put my car on the strip. From what I have seen my advice to anyone going on is ease off the throttle at the end, don't just come straight off after nailing it down the strip. Admittedly they were older but I have seen a few cars fly down and go pop!

Would be up for a normal RWYB before this if anyone else is, but the 12th august is an Italian Car Day at Santapod, including a RWYB, so we could aim for that maybe? I know the Ferrari Owners Club are going, so should be a fair few interesting cars there. Theres club display area too, could we possibly do an Alfaowner display stand?

the forza day at pod should be good. ive already heard about a few very fast road cars are gona be there and there is going to be an alfa crowd going. even if you have never done it before its a bit of a laugh and a chance to actually see how fast your car really is. the problem witht he normal rwyb days is that they can be a tad boring unless its on a major atttraction day as there will be other things to do also. but i would suggest a couple of trips up there to perfect your technique so you have the edge over your mates. :D im looking forward to the battle between a couple of alfas i know and the big guns i.e enzos f40 gayardos and even the 700bhp delta that maybe appearing

Well I'm definately going to the Forza day, my dad's going with the FOC anyway. Anyone else going to come along? Although, I'm tempted to get to a RWYB before this as, like you say, it'd be good to get some practice in. Last thing I want to do is stall off the line lol!

lol ive seen so many people do this but on the other hand i saw honda civic type r launch so crazily that he touque steered straight into the wall lol it was most amusing.

I may be up for...I'll bring the caravan and race that :cheese: :cheese:

No seriously, I am up for it, but I won't be taking part :( Too worried I'll wreck the car, so I could be on the show stand, so long as there are some loooovly ladies sitting on my bonnet ;) :D
