Gearbox Problems

Hi
I now have my 4c and am generally over the moon with it, However I have encountered some gearbox issues, wondering if anyone else has.
Firstly the gearbox will on occasion not go into any gear, no matter how hard I press the brake pedal. I have to turn the engine off and back on again - sometimes more than once.
Secondly sometimes (Twice now) upon engaging gear the gearbox engages 2nd not 1st or reverse. Then when driving only engages 2nd, 4th and 6th gears.
I have reported this to my local dealer and am waiting to hear.
Thanking all replies in advance.

I'm not an expert, but recall the way the gearbox works is to separate odd and even numbered gears. There is a separate clutch for each gear set. The problem you describe I think is a significant clue as to the area of the problem, maybe one of the clutches or something in the selector mechanism for the 'missing' gears.

Now had my 2016 - 4c for over a year and am still having gearbox problems. The original problem (above) sorted by a software upload/download instillation However I have had, and am still having problems with the gearbox . On closed throttle downshift the 3rd to 2nd and 5th to 4th downshift “Bumps” heavily. This is an intermittent problem happening approximately 10% of the time.
Been into the dealers and they say there is no fault, had an independent report done by a renowned auto/TCT gearbox specialist who agrees with me that there is a problem. Anyone any suggestions Please - Alfa Romeo UK customer care phone number?

Take it in to service for another patch. Most issues with the gearbox have been rectified electronically especially the 'not going into gear' one. Does this happen in manual with dynamic mode then operates like nothing is wrong when in auto natural mode? Don't take the palm-off from the dealer. Mine is a '16 vintage with 9,000km and works beautifully. Yours should be the same. The transmission control module upgrade reference is CFCDW.01-00-UF14M080. Has yours had this installed? Then there's the issue with the transmission pump regulator that sometimes turns up around the 21,000km/14,000 mile mark. People have had that replaced and change issues resolved. I'm just parroting the issues others have had with theirs, not personal experience. Hope this helps.

Many Thanks
The "Not going into gear" issue has been solved by a software download/upload.
The "Bumping" occurs in both Natural and Dynamic mode either in auto or manual when not using the sterring wheel shifters. In manual mode using the shifters it does not happen.
The clutches and another software Down/upload have been replaced in order to try and solve the "Bumping" issue - No improvement
The car is in next week for some other warranty issues - I shall ask about the control module upgrade CFCDW.01-00-UF14M080 and mention the transmission pump regulator.

Got the car back from the dealers - The say that there is not a upgrade number CFCDW.01-00-UF14M080 - Mentioned the TPR = No comment made
Anyone know if these items have been installed on any UK cars?
If so Please get in touch
I am really struggling here so any help appreciated.

Probably different codes for different markets. There has also been an issue with a bent gear change actuator arm. Sorry I can't be of any more help. It looks like they don't want to hear you. Do you belong to the Alfa Owners Club? Another forum,'4C Forums' have a few active U.K. members. Get on there and ask for help. One of them maybe nearby and you could compare cars, or at least you may be able to get more 4C owners with local U.K. knowledge to help.

Just a thought, why don't you arrange a visit to see Jamie Porter at Royston? It might cost a little but I'm sure he'd be able to diagnose any issue you might have with your 4C. You could then go back to your dealer with ammo. Failing that, ARUK, FCAUK (interesting anagram) or whatever they call themselves.

A call to AR customer care (never had issues with them personally) and raise the issue. How far North in North Yorkshire are you? My car is just over the county line in County Durham if you need a comparison.
