It was built by vercarmodel saro in Orbassano , Turin who probably painted the base coat in a chrome silver and the clear coat red has matting agent, I'd say.
Lapo Elkann did an interesting 4C looking similar but using what appears to be a textured metallic wrap for his Custom Garage in Milan.
getting the red metallic colour is obvious (silver or gold-ish first layer, then bit transparent desired red tone). Silver first layer is used where more cold effect is desired, gold where warmer effect is desired. Nevertheless, would be nice to find full description of the paints to be fully correct
I am more interested into the final coat details. It is obvious that it is matt coat, but what are the details of that coat. seams like it might be having a bit of bluish white colour added to clear matt component to have that frozen effect, or?
as you can see at the top of the alfaowner.com web page, on that GT in middle, it is also red metallic, but that guy used adding bit of black colour to that clear coat in order to emphasise the contrasts. with that combination the trick is next: the more the inspecting eye is 90 deg above the surface, coat layer is from that angle effectively thinnest and then pre-dominant is the colour bellow. as soon as the view angle (to the surface) changes effective thickness of the "clear" coat starts to get more influence of the black as component, still being transparent. very nice effect. used also on rims as well. Tomason calls this Hyperblack polish.
any way, thanks for the information about the company that did it. now we'll need only CIA, NSA, KGB methods to get the formulae from that company
