True, but a dyno doesn't have wind resistance or massive inclines or uphills so easy to reach such speeds on a Dyno

The wait for this car is driving me up the wall

Actually, these videos settle the whole debate about why 6:th gear was not used on the Ring. We can se that at least 256 km/h is achieved in fifth and he then goes on to 272 km/h in 6:th. 258 is the car's official top speed so it's definitely geared for fuel economy and reaches it's top speed already in 5:th.

If the car would have benefited from a closer ratio gearbox or if most of us will be happy for the long 6:th when we travel back and forth to the Ring with our "race" exhausts, that we will know next year...

Stop torturing yourselves by looking at vids of em then, the time will go much quicker if you just get on with your life and try to forget what awaits you in the near future.

Seems like the 6th is there to get fuel economy and a low CO2 figure - in some countries like Finland this has a massive impact on the price of the car due to CO2-based showroom tax. Not that I am expecting lots of 4C's to make their way to Finland!

Yes, that is a very good point. My reaction to the dynamometer video was similar, for a different reason: I had not kept close track of the rated top speed, but with less than 20 km/h difference between 5th and 6th speed, it seemed likely that air resistance alone would prevent hitting top speed in 6th.

Edit: Stef100's comment below does make me wonder if we actually saw the theoretical maximum rpm in 6th. I'd not noticed that the first time I watched the video.

Just watch again :
In 4/5 th gear he upshifts at 6000/6500 rpm
At 272 km/h in 6th why is he only at 5500 rpm ?

Guys, please understand how a dyno works...you can drive the car off the clocks on a dyno...if its not electronically governed it will keep on going and going...it does NOT mean that when driven on a track or road it will now do the 277km...

rolling resistance/wind + 10000 other factors come into play

I assumed a lot of the noise was from the fans removing fumes and supplying air. I could be wrong, but I don't think most of the sound came from the car itself.

Jip.. Massive fan blowing air into the air intake. And recording equipment will struggle to capture the true sound.

As mentioned earlier the 4C was mentioned before at 97decibels or something.. That's loud.. Ferrari with little softer exhaust for tracks matches those kind of decibels
