At 7min 13 5th 202 km/h
At 7min 46. He starts braking after 33 sec passed on 5th gear !!!!!
In fact he could pass the 6th gear around 7min 19/20
So in conclusion he could have. 25 seconds flat out on 6th gear
Impact for the Time is important imo / your opinion???

Great video...
The car is very stable; very quick; with virtually no body roll... and that 4 cylinder engine sounds really keen. All of which points to the 4c being a major marketing success for Alfa, provided the purchase cost is not too high.

Its amazing through this section a lot of exotic cars and my car crash and bang over this bumpy part but the 4C is just so compliant its amazing !

I reckon he could have gone faster especially in the beginning

I saw the vidéo again and i confirm That is not normal not to pass the 6th gear , 2 Times during the lap he could have done it to increase the top speed which is not 243 km/h
Just have a look at 7min 27 he had à Quick look of the display because There is à caméra , so he could not see the speed indicator and the gear shift engaged ,for me it is a mistake

he upshifts close to 6500 rpm...on the straight it never goes over 6000rpm...so no 6th gear...

I agree he should have used 6th gear especially for the long straight. The revs are just sitting close to the
red line for a long time. Its as though he thought he was in top gear. He should definitely have used 6th gear on the straight.

So what do people estimate the true potential of the lap time should be - 7.59 ?

Maximum torque is available at 5000/5500pm, so it is ridiculous to stay at 6000 without upshifting
Another vid from Balocco shows a driver :
4th gear. 191 km/h 6000rpm then 5th
5th gear. 225 km/h. 6000rpm then 6th
He brakes just after

For me , the.driver believes he is on 6th That is why he does not upshift, he does not see the display due to the caméra
At less There are two straights where you CAN be flat out on 6th
Lap Time for me is just under 8min

I agree Stef. This is a huge oversight from Alfa if that is the case. I always had a gut feel that this car was good for sub 8:00 min.

He is pulling around 6,000 rpm in 5th most of the way which is where the engines is at peak power. Had he changed up it would have dropped away. The time posted equates to an average of 96 mph which is none too shabby

Considering 30 sec for the complete lap at a top speed +20 km/h
2 straight lines for me it is correct
242 km/h / 30 sec you do. 2016m. 2km016
262 km/h./30 sec. 2183m. 2km183
To do this 2km183 at a speed of 242kmh you need 32sec5
Verdict the gap is 2sec 5
The réal Time is around. 8min

I suspect the GoPro camera obscured his view and he didn't actually know that he was still in 5th or that he had an additional gear to go... If its the case I am sure the 4C lost out on a couple of additional seconds..

But the car hauls!!

I saw again the complète vidéo and yes the go pro caméra obscured his view , he believes he is on 6th but in fact he is on 5th
4c is in fact very fast , a little bit deceived not to have the réal top speed in image

Easier to correct a mistake with more torque and engine breaking in a lower gear than in a longer final gear? A decision to sacrifice ultimate top speed over stability and control?

Its still a rwd drive mid engined roadster and the tend to pirouette when things go bad, not nice at those sorts of speeds, especially with very little weight the car might be more susceptible to be upset by undulations in the road at higher speeds regardless of downforce generated by aerodynamics.

funny maths...horst von saurma is chief test driver for german sport auto magazine...he drove 208 cars up to now and has 1000000000000000 laps around the ring....so he would have used 6th if it was faster...
once again the car is not going over 6000rpm...so how do you think it would accelerate in 6th at 5000 rpm? while going uphill?
