'As you are aware, it was our intention to announce the pricing for 4C at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, however we now have confirmation that the official price communication for all countries will be announced at an International Press Conference in mid-September. '

we are being told $80K here in Aus, still cheap compared to Jaguar F type ($150K) or a 911 ($200K)

Hey Diglad. We were told circa $80k but that was back in March when the AUD was worth EURO80c. Currently sitting on 0.668 and sinking quickly. Try asking AR Aust now what the price will be and they say pricing will be announced Q1 2014.

I'm not holding out much hope of the "under $80k".

The 60k Euro for the LE = $75k in March now equals $90k

Well the €60k does include VAT of 20% which takes the actual cost of the car down to €$50k. Converted to AUD + our 10% GST takes the cost to AUD$81,400. Add in cost of freight to Australia + dealer delivery will take it to roughly $90k. That's before the "Australia tax" is added (a massive margin importers generally add because they can).

For example, a base Porsche Cayman S in the UK is 49k (AUD$84k). In Australia it's AUD$146K (85k).

Forgot that it will also attract Luxury car tax (because it's above the $75,375 threshold inc GST for fuel efficient cars). So add a further 33% tax to the amount above for approx $15k = $4,387.50.

So maybe around $95k if they don't add the Australia tax, but that's all pure speculation.

When asked why there was still such a large price anomaly, Porsche Australia spokesman Paul Ellis said: "You don't price your car against what it costs in other countries, you price it against its local competitors. It's market positioning."

The AUD just needs to appreciate to guarantee the "quoted price" from March as they've already backtracked a little: http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2013...ter-2014-37961

Hopefully I'm wrong and the price ends up being around $80k

What else would I get around that price range? Not sure as I haven't started looking at other options yet because I want my fears to be wrong
