What's with the picnic table on the back of the Alpine?

Alfa and Renault look like fulfilling the desires of two totally different markets within the same segment. One desiring a classy looking sports car and the other after a "look at me" boy-racer/race car look. Guess which is which!

The biggest rival in my opinion is the Cayman S. The new shape Cayman is absolutely stunning also. Widely known to be the best handling car out there and now it has the looks to match. The 4c has its work cut out!

The 4C won't have that issue in Australia. Here the 4C will go for under $80k, but a Cayman S will set you back well north of $150k.

this is good news
the segment will expand, and there will be interest
Alpine looks like a flat out sprint car. tasty.
But I would put a cover on it, when on the drive, (=bag on head ) whereas the Alfa will draw a crowd

It's flattering that Alpine/Caterham has benchmarked the 4C as its target when the car has yet to be delivered to customers and road tested, rather than the Boxster/Cayman/Exige/Evora competition.

The fact that 4C is initially sold out suggests they will not hurt each other's sales anyway.
