Launch Edition White

Anyone seen the matt white? Would love to hear thoughts on it. I've seen the mercedes matt black but can't imagine what the white would look like. Also, it appears as though it is a triple coat paint. Are the other colours single coat then? Cheers.

The matt white is a gorgeous colour the way it's painted on this car. It has a little bit of a shine to it but also a very smooth silky finish to it. I was told as well that it is a triple paint finish and it makes it very difficult to correct if you have problems with it so I would advise anyone buying this car in matt white (me included as I did) to have it taken care of by a specialised detailer and have the front covered with an anti-stone chipping film.

The Launch Edition only comes in matt white or Alfa red. The normal versions will be in (apparently) 6 or 7 different colours.

I don't have any but you can find them all over the web if you search for Geneva Auto Show pics of the 4C

4c.alfaromeo.org has plently of pictures of the 4C in matte white finish.

I was personally amazed by the color the instant I saw it in Geneva and ordered my LE one in Carrara White. I am sure it will be a pain in the backside to take good care of it but trust me, it looks amazing

I would cover the front of any 4C as it sits very low. That said, I can't understand why a triple coated white paint would be hard to keep. I would have thought it would be harder. I'm coming from a 911 and the paint can't be any softer than that. You could cough on the 911 and it would scratch.

Matt paints are always difficult to maintain for some reason.
I think the triple layer will be difficult as it is on Ferraris. It is almost impossible to "repair" if you have a scratch or a stone chip so you have to end up repainting the whole part.

That Matt White is amazing. More "silk" than "matte", it has deep colour and iridescence as well. It really makes the car seem tiny

Fantastic photos David...

Pity you couldn't get such nice pics of the Rosso one

I went with my gut and ordered the Rosso colour without seeing any in the flesh!!

I reckon that red will probably be easier to maintain body wise. Any matt finish will aquire a certain 'polish' over time, especially on the high spots, lines and creases which will mean very special care will be needed even just washing it.

I like them both-red and white. Looks like the carbon bits stand out more on the white though.

The white is gorgeous. Under the show lights it was truly jaw dropping. As David says it has a silk look to it.
I went for red though because of the fear that I wouldn't be able to look after the white properly.

For those that have seen the white in the flesh, which of the following matte white cars is it most closest to: Aston Martin, Rolls, Porsche 996, Mercedes SLK55, BMW M5, Maserati? I'm trying to get an idea so I can see an existing car. Cheers.

A bit difficult to say to be honest. I haven't seen that kind of matte paint before as most of the matte colours I have seen are very "flat". I am not sure how to explain well but this one is obviously matte but has a very silky finish to it that makes it pretty different.
One of the issues with matte for me is that it often looks as if you have just wrapped the car....this one does not at all!

Anyway I think you might have to wait until LE cars are produced to see it in person.

Silky is a great way to put it. There is no other way to explain the color's finish in my opinion

I saw the white 4C Launch Edition live driving in my city last Sunday. It was so stunning, 10 times better than in pics. I have to wait till September to see it again, at the IAA.
