"It'll be a rival for the Toyota GT86...." WTF!
No it won't. OK maybe the Nissan 370Z but it isn't that direct a rival when you think about their repsective natures.
It'll more likely be a rival for the Porsche Cayman, Exige or Evora, Audi TT RS, maybe the Merc SLK or poverty spec 911...after that it actually gets quite hard. There isn't that much choice, new, at that price point. It might steal some sales from hot saloon/coupes like the M3, S4, or Infiniti G37 (God I'm stretching it now) and possibly even some of the more track oriented specialised kit out there where the buyer might want to have some duality of use - I'm thinking Caterham, Ariel, Radical buyers.
If it drives right I have no doubt it will sell out and used will carry a premium - certainly not much depreciation - for some time.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
