A couple of questions

Two 4C questions that Iíd like some help with please. Iíve had conflicting information on both points.

1) 4C Spider width. I have a single garage opening into a double size garage. What is the bear minimum opening width, with mirrors folded, that I can get through?

2) Stock exhaust v sports option? Iíd read that the standard exhaust can drone after 70mph. This will be a weeekend car therefore Iím not too fussed about that however does the standard exhaust sound sporty enough?

I had the standard exhaust. It sounds sporty enough outside the car but not quite enough theatre inside. I bought the Alfaworks Quicksilver Helmholtz exhaust from Jamie Porter and have never looked back. You adjust the noise using your right foot and the gear paddles. Bloody brilliant. I’ve driven with many other 4Cs and the Quicksilver has a very pleasant, tuned note to it and is completely drone free when compared to the race exhaust.

I wouldn’t be looking at bare minimum widths when it comes to backing a 4C into or out of a garage. The width they give with both door mirrors extended is 2090mm. I estimate you should take 100mm off for both mirrors (50mm each side). They don’t give the mirror folded width in my handbook. I only have about 5cm clearance each side with both mirrors extended and feel you wouldn’t want any tighter fit than that. I’ve already managed to brush the carbon mirror cap with the brickwork. Luckily the wrap sacrificed itself and no damage was done. Very lucky.

Thanks thatís very useful. Iíve been told that 1864mm is the width with the mirrors folded in so not far off the estimates youíve given.

The car will be leased so Iím not sure an after market exhaust will be an option really. Might stock with the standard one.
