Dunno if anyone follow the Dakar here, but the ASO published the route through Argentina, Chili and Peru:

In the bikes cathegory not that many suprises: Coma and Despres on KTM, Rodrigues and Street on Yamaha, Lopez and Duclos on Aprilia. Biggest switch is Speedbrain ditching the BMW bikes for Husqvarna's and Frans Verhoeven teaming up with Sherco, whereas Casteu traded his Sherco for a Yamaha as well.

In the cars VW exited dakar for their WRC preparation. BMW's X-Raid team enters five Mini XRaids and three older BMW's. Giniel de Villiers enters a Toyota Hilux Proto and Alfie Cox comes to Mar del Plata with a Volvo XC60 tuned by Powena. Dutch Rallydriver Erik Wevers prepared four Racing Lancers for himself and Erik van Loon, Bernard ten Brinke en Gert Huzink.

In the Trucks the number 500 for first truck has been given to Edvard Nikolaev, who seems to be the successor of Vladimir Chagin at the Kamaz Army. The Russians enter an armada of EIGHT Kamaz-trucks to defend their winning streak. The main rivals seem to be Tatra (with Ales Loprais), MAN (with Frans Echter and Marcel van Vliet), Ginaf (with Wuf van Ginkel) and Iveco (with dakar-legend Jan de Rooy as teamboss, his son Gerard as lead-driver and WRC-legend Miki Biasion as newest addition)

Edit: a question. I tried to include
tags for pictures, but that didn't work. Is there any way to include pics here?

Humf, quite a rocky start. One Argentinian motard killed in a crash, two cars out after a fire (Cox in the Volvo among them), Al-Attiyah losing 10 minutes on a half-hour stretch and a feud between the Argentinian and European quad-riders after 7 European quads were ruled out in scrutineering after the Argentinian riders protested.

Just finished watching the coverage of day 1, been a few years since I've watched the whole event.

Nasser back on a charge yesterday. Peterhansel was already being interviewed as fastest car, but the Qatari eclipsed his time by 54 seconds! Robby Gordon got home third, despite being handed a motorcycle roadbook to follow and getting a puncture.

No news for the bikes, Coma and Despres at it yet again. Despres was in front until CP4, then Coma got 1m14s out of him. Frans Verhoeven came home on a very ramshackled Sherco (try to say five times ) because his mechanic didn't check for any loose screws, he fell off once, had to stop twice between CP3 an 4 and alas that cost him time ánd his temper. He had more luck than Bruno da Costa, who had to abandon after he crashed into a jaywalking cow

Gerard de Rooy won the second Truck stage (and not 'Gerardus' as Carlton Kirby said, prolly read the entry documents from the ASO site) and beat the Kamaz of Nikolaev and his teammate Hans Stacey in the process
