How many of you actually go to watch live motor sport?

If you do what tracks do you go to and what racing do you watch racing?

Re: How many of your watch live motor sport?

Don't get the time anymore :(

Me and a mate used to get to as many BTCC races in a year as we could which was pretty knackering (when you're travelling from Darkest, Eastern East Anglia) but

Closest I get to it now is passing the ARCA racers down the A11 on a Sunday evening

I haven't been for a while but often go to see the touring cars at Knockhill or Croft.

I used to do off-roading myself for years every weekend just about and before that my Dad raced sidecar outfits so I've always been around one race circuit or another.

The last racing I saw was mini-motos at the Bike Show at Ingliston in March.

Took the family to Castle Combe, Pembrey & Donington last year.

Weekend camping trip was a good laugh at Donington. Camp site right by the entrance of the paddock.

Yep, been all over the country folllowing big events like touring cars, GT's and Champcar (rockingham) right down to local club events with Caterhams and legends where there's only a few dozen spectators
Been to Le Mans twice and will be going back next year.

Biggest ambition is to watch NASCAR live

Got to go in 2000 for the Daytona 500 and Busch race on the Saturday. On the Saturday we went in to the main grandstand for the Nascar Winston cup cars hot lapping, and if you time it right you can get right up to the fence which is about 2ft thick and the car come flying past you at about 200mph absolutely brilliant.

Also been to Silverstone in 1992 for the Grand Prix and Touring Cars.
Rockingham for the Ascars as we got free tickets from Hoosier tyres.

But my main motorsport is BriSCA F1 which I go and watch all over the country most weekends from the end of March to November and Holland once a year.

I voted yes, but I do more than watch - I'm involved, as a marshal.

My home circuit is Oulton Park, so that is my first choice, followed closely by Anglesey & then Mallory.

As for the type of racing, I much prefer clubbies, but I'll do just about any type of meeting - the only ones I won't do is touring cars.

We're always short of marshals! It's much more rewarding than just spectating - why not give it a try?

Because I work shifts and Brands hatch didn't like the fact that I can't commit to the majority of weekends, and can only do probably 1 a month.

I'd have thought that any volunteers are better than none at all, but I s'pose they see it differently

I go to the Grand Prix every year, and up until recently used to go to one, maybe two local events a year too.

Mainly Moto gp these days. Been to mugello 3 times and barcelona too.

Going down to donnington this weekend and hopefully assen in a couple of weeks

Used to watch a lot of BTCC in the 90's at Croft, Snetterton, Silverstone, Oulton Park and Knockhill.

Been to watch truck racing at Brands Hatch which is an awesome spectacle and also seen the WSB there too.

Went to see the F1 once at silverstone in 1990. Senna, Prost and Mansell racing!!!!

You could say im a bit of a fan!:D

I've been to a load of tarmac rallies here in Ireland since '98 or so, not seen many for the last few years :(
Went to German in 2003 to the WRC
Seen BTCC in Mondello Park the 1st year they came over to Ireland.
Seen BSB at Mondello 2 or 3 times.
Went up north to the NW200 twice.
Been to a good few autotests

Highedge raceway. Anyone else ever been there?

#20 ·
Technically no. Don't have time what with work and kids. Took my son to see the A1GP at Brands a couple of years ago but it was to loud and he was just not intrested. In the past however I've been to club bike racing, Truck racing, BTCC and GP's in Malaysia and Australia.

Brands Hatch for BTCC and A1GP,
Silverstone for F1 And BTCC.

Not much this year, just the British GP and maybe a touring car round somewhere.

No-one has been up Highedge for the banger racing then?
Maybe the North-West section should organise a trip. It's a good laugh.

i used to go to donington quite regularly, saw mansell crash his mondeo in '93 and saw a bit of GT racing there, after one gt race i went back to my car and there was a brand spanking mclaren F1 parked next to it:cool: i used to watch the btcc back in the days of the cossie's v 3 series bmw's, great racing.

ive been to castle coombe once but never again, jeez its bleak.

living in northampton i really should get my arse to silverstone but other than the classic ive not been to much.

i go to the festival of speed at goodwood but that doesnt really count as racing and i may finally make it to the revival this year.

i want to go to le mans but it always clashes with my gf's birthday so ill have to convice her she wants to go as well.

id love to go to the indy 500 just for the experiance but oval racing is dull as watching paint dry on the telly, im sure people only go to see the big crashes, im sure nascar is ok once in the flesh but as per indy its dull on the telly, perfect insomnia cure.

oh and i went to 2 of the superprix in birmingham and saw jean alesi crash.

I saw that too - from the top of Craners - and it was FAF :D

Not anymore used to go to Brands as a nipper saw Graham Hill, Ronnie Peterson in a F2 race, what chance of Grand Prix drivers racing in 'non' championship races SFA now i think. Also went to see Hot Rods which were very fast Escorts (Mk1) and Anglias and minis, does this make me old? Bl**dy excellent racing round a 400m dirt track with the favourite starting at the back.
Must start going again as I love the atmosphere of the race track.:)

Not sure if it's even still there, but does Crayford Banger racing circuit nr Dartford in Kent Count??

Lived in Germany for 3 years and did a bit of Rally Cross - great fun!!
