Service (washing the car)

Just had the GT in for it's second service £338, they did the oil change & filters etc...

I then picked it up, they hadn't even washed it. (I hadn't washed it to see if they would, normally it is spotless  )

Is it too much to ask that after doing these little jobs, for so much money, they would at least wash the car  , my old alfa dealer did it (before they closed  )as a matter of course just for any warranty work I needed doing. This at least gave me the impression that they cared for my bella.

What do you think?

Or am I being unreasonable

I think it's very unsatisfactory. It's a shame, it just confirms that the dealer network has no real interest in keeping brand loyalty.

Mmm - difficult one.
I've always used specialists/independents (not main dealers) for my servicing and, due to the cost saving, have never tended to expect a complementary wash.

Having said that, they still have a guy washing all the cars on the forecourt - wouldn't take 5 mins to buff up my bella i suppose.

Got me thinking I need to seek a better service culture ??

Think yourself lucky, if you do it yourself at least you know it's done properly. A local premium car dealer has a automatic roller type car wash in it's workshop to the the service washes, fantastic if you want to inflict loads of swirl marks in your paintwork. If their customers knew they would have a fit...!

If it's main dealer it's part of the new Alfa charter. Ours always get done when they go in for even minor warranty work. Not sure if I like 'em doing it as those flexiblades tend to leave fine scratches where they get gritty and are not rinsed off

lol, I was ****ed off at myself for not asking the dealer not to wash my car when I brought it in for service. It was immaculate and freshly waxed before my last service and afterwards it was a total soap-stained mess!! I would have paid them NOT to "wash" it!!!
Thing is, I brought it in a couple of weeks later to have the injectors serviced (again, looking immaculate), but as it was not a main service as such I thought there would be no need to ask them not to wash it. But what do they go and do..............

Mine was washed the last time it went in for warranty work but I'll ask them not to bother next time as they obviously employ Stevie Wonder to wash the cars !!

Yeah, wish they wouldn't bother. I had dedicated a lot of time washing and polishing my car before I took it to Knowle for a service. Afterwards it had swirled up like a 10 year old Mondeo that had only seen Morrison's petrol station washes.

Honestly, why even bother if its going to be a bad job.

I've only ever had a car washed at Alfa or Mercedes (long story.. works C-class, innit?) main dealers.. but every time they all seem to have washed the car in dirty water and not rinsed it off or dried the car. Always had streaky "muddy" finish.

As has been said, I'd prefer them not to do it now (if for some reason I took 13-year-old Tarquini into a main dealer).

To be honest I think washing the car is a bit of a gimick. Its nice when they do it, but I'd much prefer lower servicing bills and to clean the car myself...

The dealer never washed my car in the first 18 months I had it, except the time they had it for 6 weeks, then, once it got damaged in their carpark (not their fault, but still their responsibility) & needed the bonnet resprayed, when I went to pick it up the front half was clean and the back was dirty,

They wash it nearly every time now, but as above not very well, I think the time would be better spent being careful when fixing the car or removing trim etc, so the car comes back in the same condition as when it was left in.
