Oh go on then... . Weekend routes to Scarborough will be absolutely packed though, so maybe avoid the A64 altogether if possible? Last time me and sarah went up to Whitby we spent at least 30mins in queueing traffic on the A64 nr Malton and Stockton. Will be even worse on the Easter weekend... .

Doh! June 15th...should be fine for me I think Kev.

Kev, I am going to ask for a day pass from the missus for the Saturday. I will let you know for certain by tomorrow

Spent the last week on various websites looking at assorted GTVs and Spiders. My budget is limited, but there appear to be plenty of tempting options out there for £1k - 1.5k. Ideally I'd like a V6 (who wouldn't?), but I've seen some very intersting reviews of the TS as well. Decided against the Spider, due to not having a garage, as well as lots of very ill birds perched in the trees down my road!

So, any advice or recommendations on what to look out for in a GTV? Do the TS engines last? Am I stupid to look at something with over 100k on the clock? Any tips on what to look out for when going to see a car? Are sites like gumtree worth looking at? Come Yorkies, help me buy a GTV .

Have all suspension bushes checked over as replacement of worn ones can be hellishly expensive

TS engines are susceptible to diesel rattle if the variator is worn, though it will never fail entirely. Airbag lights will probably be on, heated rear window element probably wont work but other than that they should be fine. Check the sills/floorpan for rust

Depends how friendly or understanding your MOT guy is

Usually reset with a quick ECU scan program, they have crap connectors under the seats and things like potholes and moving the seats with the ignition on can often bring the light on. If it cant be reset with a scanner then there is probably a fault somewhere in the system that will need further investigation

Its a shame you discounted a Spider, i have a nice yellow one up for grabs :)

Is that the one you had out for the new years brekkie? I do have a question...how resilient is the top to bird crap - does it wash out easily? The feathered rats round here all seem to have some highly corrosive diarrhoea!! Also, the trees seem to leak some sort of sap all over the place too. I think I might actually be able to persuade the Mrs of the need for two cars rather more easily if one was a Spider (she loves them!).

Finally got the details of the run a motor biking friend had suggested. It starts in the Holmfirth area and heads up towards Langsett then down to Ladybower Reservoir where the Dambuster Planes used to practice on then down to Buxton taking in the Snake Pass then back round through Sheffield.

Looking at the map I'm sure these are roads that many of us are aware off but still seems like a good run with plenty of places to stop off and grab some food along the way.

Thoughts please, thinking July with Kev having already sorted a run for June.

After the great fun had by all thanks to Kev's brilliant run out to Whitby, how about setting a date for The Last of the Summer Dambusters Run Simon?
