Gus @ alfatune weaved his magic on V6 a couple of years ago, thinking about another project now but with all na engines it's not really about more bhp it's about gaining drivability.
Hi Bendy, To be fair it is about a Yorkshire mechanic at the moment  Welcome to the forum
I am a Mirfield lad and Town fan too, left in 86 but only moved to Huddersfield where I ran the town centre pub adopted by Town fans, The Crescent. Where in Mirfield did you live? My mum and dad ran the chippie up Greenside Road.
Hi All, northen alfa sound like just the place to take my 156 as she's a little poorly just now, Plus I'm only 10 mins drive from Maltby which is a bonus.!
Been into town today in the GTV to get "a few bits", came out of The Range and back into the car, tried to get rverse and the gear lever just flopped over, waggaling about like a good un. Tried in vain to get reverse , then any other gear but could onle get third and fourth. got some propper peculiar looks after pushing it bacwards with one foot out of the door only to forwards again into the very same spot. Anyways after an etternity the car next door pulled away and after going through the ritual again, only this time with a little more room to turn, finaly got clear of the car parking space and away in third. Now if anybody knows where the Range is in Barnsley you'll know that it is at the bottom of the steepest hill in Barnley with traffic lights to boot, naturally the lights changed to red as I got to them so had to set of up Everest in third gear. Testament to the grunt and power of the V6 that it pulled away and left the following Vaxhaul behind. Got it home using just the two gears ( third where first shoud be, fourth where second should be then back to third where fifh etc , etc ). Phoned Gareth at Northern Alfa who hopes its just a cable thats popped off. ( took the gaitor and surround off and the gear lever has a ball joint on it with the ball not going into anything ) Anyways going totry to get it to him over the weekend and as he says " anything is fixable eventually " and to top it all now doing a twelve hour night shift on Friday!. Alfa's ..... don't you just love em...
Well done getting home Kev. Have a look in the 916 threads for sloppy gear stick or loose gear stick, something like that, think there's a thread about it. Could be the cup thingy it sits in possibly called a top hat but could be wrong.
Cheers Paul, I'll have a look, but even if it is that I dont think I've got the tackle or knowhow to fix it at home, you know Alfas only like to be messed with by surgeons.
I would be tempted to pop the cable back on that you see loose, won't be far away to pop the ball joint back on, at least it will make it easier to get to the garage
I know that feeling. Just dropped nr 3k on my Spider - went in for an oil service and look over, and came away with cam cover gasket, new radiator, coolant, hose clips, front brake disc and pads, 2 front shocks, gear box oil change and reseal, front lower suspension arms, aux belt and tensioner and front off side new brake calipers, amongst other bits.
