Is it fate, or just bad luck?

On Sunday afternoon I decided to take a test drive in a Guilietta, a very nice experience. However I didn't come to decision on weather to buy or not. Getting back into my Sportwagon and starting up I knew somthing was wrong straight away.
The engine turned over slower than normal, then fired, tired battery?
Moving away from the dealer every thing ok until the revs rose, then a knocking came and went. Stopping at some lights all ok, then moving off, same again. Moving through the town and I had to keep the revs up until I got to another set of lights and then the engine siezed.
Clutch in, coast to a stop, and pull up on the footpath.
Quick check under the bonnet, oil and water ok, but the engine would not turn over.
So, phone home, then the AA. Half an hour later the AA man arrives, and confirms my thoughts, possible big ends.
When I got home the car started after it cooled, but the knocking was still there (I was hoping it was just a bit tired and wanted carrying home).
So did my car know I'm thinking of trading up, or just bad luck?

So, the Sportwagon's up for sale as a spares or repair, I'm open to offers, if anyone's interested.
And as I was "Alfaless", I had to go and buy this,

I'll bring it along to the next NICN.

Mito - 185bhp

They know, I've had it with all my cars.

My worst was my Seat Arosa on my way to picking up my new car, the engine Blew, black smoke everywhere and just 2 miles from the garage.... didn't some emergancy repairs with it still running and costed it to the garage. Grabbed the keys for the new car and RAN, Never ran that fast... Got a phone call 2 hours later saying the car wouldn't start

Well done on the new purchase

It's gone, my Sportwagon is no more.
Sold this afternoon to someone who is going to lovingly restore it to its former splendour,

or break it for spares!
I think this time next week it will be in bits and on ebay.

MiTo 1.6 Jtdm VW Bora 2.0

Went for a test drive of a MiTo over two months ago as I was fed up of driving old German cars and longed for the days of my early twenties driving little Italian hot hatches.

I decided 4 weeks ago to order my first alfa a 1.6 JTDm in Etna black with those beautiful 18" sports alloys and other expensive frivolities.

On the way to work the next day every warning light on my dash lights up as the alternator has a heart attack. With that and the clutch going I decided my big old buxom bora is jealous of my new dark sleek Italian purchase.

It hasn't arrived yet. The boras still sulking.
