AlfaDiag - West Yorks
Hi all,
I've recently bought myself AlfaDiag and the appropriate cable for my 2001 147 TS.
Whilst I'm no expert, it has been useful in helping me identiy and diagnose a few problems and even helped me through an MOT when I was able to plug in and clear a fault code / MCSF flight as I parked up for the MOT appointment.
If anyone local needs a hand I'm happy to plug in and see if i can help out - I know how frustrating the unidentified warnings can be..!!!!

Hi Mick,
Bit of a shot in the dark but any idea if AlfaDiag can reset the ecu that controls the trip/multifunction computer? If it does I'd be most grateful for a blast with your box of tricks.
Cheers.

Mick
You're probably regret posting this!!
I would appreciate the help with your software and cable.
Does it have the ability to diagnose airbag faults and determine which modules sensors require replacing?
I'm based in Leeds.
Kind regards
Ross

Hi Mick
It would be a great help if you could plug into my 156 to see if there are any possible causes for it flat spotting and 'popping' before taking off again.
I live in Huddersfield, but spend a lot of time in Morley (Leeds) at the girlfriends
Thanks
Mark

Mick
I live in Tingley, so might be worth meeting up with Mark at the same time as Morley is the next town across from me.
Saves you messing about, if Mark is up for that too?
Regards
Ross

Mick, I am currently getting my ECU reset (crash data).
It will be another of couple of weeks for me, if that doesn't cause too much of a problem for you.
Cheers

Thanks for hooking me up on Saturday Mick, top man!
Brought up 2 fault codes
P0115 & P1173
P0115 - coolant temperature sensor malfunction - Bought a new sensor from ebay £15
P1173 - Rotor Calibration Malfunction??? Could this be linked to the above?? I replaced a lambda sensor for my last MOT (April 09) so hopefully replacing the coolant temperature sensor will cure both malfunctions??
Can anyone offer any advice on this please??
Thanks
Mark

Will this fit a 145 2001 2.0 TS? If so might need a hand...

Whenever you have a spare 10 mins if poss?? My MOT is due in a month and I know i've got a fair bit of work to do to get her through.
Funny how you grow to hate alfas, aswell as love them at the same time!!!

headlight aim
co2 emissions
lots of welding

I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong but if the engine light stays on it will fail the Mot as a result ?!?!?!

MIL on shouldn't affect the MOT as just a light. If it is something that is knocking out the emissions, then it will fail on the emissions test.
ABS light will definitely fail you an MOT, but stuffed if I can remember if an airbag light is a fail or advise. I suspect not, but I wouldn't stake anything on that...

...erm...
Mine (non-Alfa) passed late last year with the ABS light AND the brake wear light on. It was at a garage that have always been re-assuringly strict in the past.
Both are wiring faults though and there's plenty left on the pads.

Surprised it passed with the ABS light one, as a malfunction on the ABS system can be dangerous.
The brake wear light shouldn't matter as they use the rollers to check brake efficiency and balance.
Still, a pass is a pass!
I read somewhere that it's often worthwhile taking your car to a council owned MOT station as they don't do car repairs, so have no gain in failing your car, hence you get a fairer MOT. Not that it should matter, MOT is meant to be the same standard everywhere.
