I know this isn't truely a forum for discussing such things other than local meets, but I thought it might be a good idea to have a list of local specialists and people's experiences of them.
Reply on this thread with details (names, addresses, genuine experiences, etc) and I'll periodically update this first post to keep all the info together.
Picked my 147 up from Alfa tech on Friday - Nice guys, decent price, happy to show me the bits they'd replaced for my piece of mind. If only I'd used them first before the morons at my local garage.!!!
Are Alfatech OK? I bought my baby from Speciality cars in Hudds, I'd done 17 miles and not put my foot down (the other half remarked "You're driving it like an old woman!"), So down goes the clog on the slip road to the motorway and pfft goes the turbo, warning lights and sirens flashing all over! Kinda ruined our weekend away in York because I thought I'd bought a bad one, and had to drive around all weekend without the turbo.
I phoned Speciality and he said "dont worry its probably just the pipe to the turbo". So I took it back and they in turn went to Alfa Tech who confirmed that it was indeed the dodgy pipe. It was fixed within a day, but a day later...Pffft, same rigmarole!
Back to Speciality cars and back to Alfa Tech. The only feedback I got from the dealer was that it was the pipe again.
So. Did Alfa Tech bodge it the first time around ? Or is the dealer not telling me everything?
Im just coming up to 100K and of course in 8K the book needs stamping and I want a good, honest, reliable garage. If y'all have had nothing but good things from Alfa Tech then I shall go there, because I dont know of anywhere else close-ish.
Not a specialist but a parts supplier: shop4parts are actually based in Bradford. I called in and got a litre of Selenia WR, they do loads of genuine Alfa parts and if you don't have to pay for postage, at very good prices too.
Another BIG thumbs up for Bearings in Bradford! Used them quite a few times now, and I think you will be pressed to find a more dedicated and enthusiastic independant specialist in the country! Very keen attention to detail, and friendly guys to talk to! Makes the whole "traumatic" experience of having your Alfa serviced, that little bit better and reassuring!:thumbs::thumbs:
Thanks for all the replies...
I went to Alfatech and were good. They were mean't to shut around 12 on the Saturday morning i went due stayed til about one to finish the job (front supsension needed doing). Friendly enough and cheaper than an Alfa garage....
Anyway my latest dilema:
Due to the recent cold weather my glow plug warning light has come on. It goes straight off away but think it'd be advisable to change them all.
I've just moved into a new house and don't even have a screw driver etc... so think i'm going to have to take it to a garage. Not fussed about seeing an Alfa specialist as it's a fairly straight forward job and don't really have the time, so just going to go to a local garage i think
What price do you think i'm looking at?
or should i just nip to halfords and get the tools i need? Has anyone got any advice? or a thread on replacing them?
Dont know if you clocked my previous reply about Alfatech but Ive just been for the 108K service which cost £170 + vat (thats a whopping £200 less than Dews in Brighouse qouted me!). MOT was £45 and two top suspension arms at £125 each.
Only downside came when Sean found that two of my alloys were distorted. But after no luck at finding any i liked he issued an advisory notice and i was able to drive it away. Otherwise it would have failed the MOT and had to sit there 'till i stumped up a wedge for some new ones.
Decent blokes and good prices. Highly recommended.
new Alfa /Fiat specialist.....for those of you in the know Gareth used to be at 'Peak Alfa' now working for himself, cheap reliable and knows what he's doing

I know it's been said a million times but the team at alfatech have done my clutch and cam belt in the past 2 weeks and I'm really happy with it, great guys too
How much did the cambelt cost at Alfatech? mine needs doing soon and just moved to the Yorkshire area so need to find somewhere cheap but professional. Alfatech seem to be getting the most thumbs up here.
Lets not forget Lewis At Alfa Tecnico, bit of a trek i imagine for some people (just off M1 junction 28) but her really knows his stuff and last time my GTV broke down (major head gasket failure) he came in and worked on it most of Sunday to get it stripped repaired and rebuilt so i'd have it for the week ahead, as usually if you book in advance you'll get a free courtesy car if required but as it was a surprise visit they were all booked out so he got me back on the road by Monday top man spent an hour there couple of days ago diagnosing a strange engine noise, problem fixed and for a fee of £0, once again top man and really knows his stuff Alfa Romeo Specialist
Just found this thread and it lead me to all to Northern Alfa Performance, Maltby.
Had a bit of a chat about some "issues" with my Brera,
Gareth was very helpful & friendly I will be calling back to him after taking my car to the main dealer for these "issues" to be addressed following his advice.
And luckily fo rme he is 6 miles from my house, result!!
Got the car checked over at Northern Alfa Performance, not to many "issues", Gareth is a nice bloke, very helpful. Just got to save up some cash to sort the bits:lol:
