I know this isn't truely a forum for discussing such things other than local meets, but I thought it might be a good idea to have a list of local specialists and people's experiences of them.
Reply on this thread with details (names, addresses, genuine experiences, etc) and I'll periodically update this first post to keep all the info together.
What are you wanting to do, go up or down? Did Adski give you the tools to adjust them? Should be two big C-spanners.
Go to one of your local Barry Boys car club meets and ask them who they take their cars to for fitting of aftermarket stuff like coilovers.. I wouldn't trust any old backstreet garage to adjust them.
Saying that, they might be seized if they have not been greased/adjusted regularly, the ones I took off were. Had to use a blowtorch on them to free them off, and they had to come off the car to be able to do that.. How long have they been fitted for?
Anyone used CW Lear in Keighley since Wynn left? I'm coming up to my 72k/6 year service and when I rang them for a quote (Cambelt, variator and plugs) they suggested I did not need to replace the plugs till 72k. I thought it was 6 years or 72k, which ever came first? Still Bearings are the other option and nothing but good said about them on this thread....
AlfaTech in Huddersfield sorted my car out well really nice guys. I have had Turin motors in Leeds recommended to me has any one had any experiance of them?
Had my first experience of Turin Motors in Leeds today. I was really impressed, they appear to know their stuff and gave me confidence that it's a decent place to go.
I wanted 2 or 3 things checked out and not only did they not recommend doing any work, but they charged me zilcho for the diagnosis which to be fair probably didn't take that much time or effort but that's not the point. They are my new regular garage now.
They open at 8am, and can drop you off in the centre of Leeds. The bus drops you off outside on the way back.

I have never personally used them but I bought my Alfa off its first owner who used them from 4000 miles onwards. He recommends them very highly and there are members of AO that have used them and have also recommended them.
I was in touch with them back in February I think and asked for and received a printed version of the full service/repair history of my car and they did not ask for a penny.
For the price of a phone call you can check them out.
so have just got my car back from Alfatech today, went in this morning for a new clutch and auxillary belt, total cost was £525, which I thiink is really good based on other quotes i have had. Also they cleaned the throttle body, tightend up my exhaust which was rattling and also put some tape around my inlet pipe.
Overall really nice bunch of guys, dead helpfull and great service. Would recommend them to anyone in West yorkshire.
Went to Alfa tech today in Huddersfield nr the McAlpine stadium. Decent service and seemed like a nice guy. Can't comment on the work yet, only time will tell but seemed geniune enough. here's the number 01484428485
The owner is the son of a friend of mine. Trained at Kershaws in York. Knows his stuff.
He has looked after my 145 since I bought it - Belts changed, gearbox changed, front shocks, all brakes, full service as well just a few weeks ago. Absolutely superb service and excellent prices.
Give him a try, he has not been open too long and is very keen to please. 07877 274676.
I'm about to create a website for him as a goodwill gesture......
I'd also recommend JJB in York - they did a sterling job of sorting my GTA clutch + various other bits last year. It's the little things that make a difference......like the fact the car came back much cleaner than it went in!
Likewise, I'd say Alfatech might be easiest for you - they have my 147 at the moment for a new sump, cam belt change and sort out the non selecting 4th gear. Seem like switched on guys, but can't comment on the work until I pick it up tomorrow..!!!
Since I'd had mine I've used Alfatech but Sean always used CW Lear so both would be recommended
