Just caught up with this thread.
We in the Yorkshire Section have been trying to finalise arrangements for Summer Alfa Day for quite some considerable time now.
Unfortunately for us, ownership of our chosen venue has recently changed hands and to say that the committee members acting on behalf of the new owners have been uncooperative would be a serious understatement. As a result subsequent negotiations have been very difficult, their committee citing “a shift in policy” towards the types of event they are targeting. Consequently, we have made the difficult but ultimately realistic decision to cancel SuAD this year. Basically, we've simply run out of time to do the event justice.
We know a number of potential visitors had arranged days off work etc to coincide with the event so we offer our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We tried everything, we really did, to make this event happen; regrettably and disappointingly it’s not worked out for us this time round. We’re all extremely frustrated by the situation, which as you can see has been caused by dealings completely beyond our control.
Makes MITCAR on August 10th even more attractive now……
