Idea [IMechE] Coventry Centre Centenary 1908 - 2008, 100 years of automotive engineering

A local event for those of you interested in British cars and bikes, might pop down on my Triumph:

Dear Member,

Institution of Mechanical Engineers Automobile Division Coventry Centre
Centenary 1908 - 2008 100 years of automotive engineering in Coventry

The IMechE extends to you a warm invitation to help celebrate 100 years of
automotive engineering in Coventry.

We have brought together the finest possible display locally manufactured
vehicles in order to mark the centenary of the Coventry Centre and
demonstrate 100 years of achievement by engineers in the area.

Famous car marques such as Jaguar, Triumph, Standard, Alvis, Lea-Francis,
Lanchester, early Rovers, Daimler, Riley, Singer, Sunbeam, Humber and Hillman
will be there, representing every decade since manufacturing began in
Coventry. The oldest entry is from 1901; the newest a 2008 Jaguar XF.

Highlights include three Le Mans cars, including two winners and a works
Jaguar D-type.

Famous motorcycles such as Triumph, Rudge and Francis-Barnett will be there
plus some rarer models including two Rover motorcycles and a magnificent
Montgomery V-twin. As with the cars, every decade is represented.

But were not just looking backwards; we will also have examples of some of
the latest vehicle technologies being developed for the future with displays
by MIRA, Ricardo and Prodrive the three leading consultancies in the area.

Prodrives display will include a rally simulator where you can try your
skills as a rally driver.

Formula Student teams from Warwick and Coventry Universities will be there
and schools from the Greenpower project will show off their electric racing
cars.

This is a unique opportunity to introduce the next generation to the
potential of a career within the automotive industry so bring the family to
meet a mixture of engineers and vehicle owners united in their celebration of
a proud past and their anticipation of a great future.

The date : Sunday 11 May, 2008

That looks good and Team PG could have come down in the Toledo.

But we're prebooked elsewhere....shame that
