I have had to let go one person sometime ago but I made sure I found him another position in the firm before telling him he had to go. That's the right thing to do for someone who's spent time and effort in a company.

Oh the brief we've hired was amazed at the latest news this will cost them big time now

Hope your solicitor gets 'em good - if he doesn't, we'll "send the boyz round"

How is your son doing now, anyway? Hope the recovery is going well.

Unfortunately, it depends on the terms of their employment. Some companies run a "probation" period, during which the employee can be "let go" with minimum notice.
He was paid 2 weeks money in lieu of notice and his manager gave him a couple of ££££ out of the petty cash because he felt so Schit about having to give him the bullet

Re: All Day in the Hospital

A very good friend of mine
completely lot his thumb in a Honda-Pilot
accident the first year of Uni.

They surgically removed his ring finger
and re-attached it where his thumb was.

(I didn't even noticed after working with him
for >1 year )

He used to be quite self concious about it
and when younger, very distressed/angry/ashamed.

But eventually he's accepted what happened
and is able to talk/joke about it.

As ever time heals.

Re: All Day in the Hospital

HM I'm sorry and shocked. Like others, I overlooked this thread thinking it had just been bumped.

I'm not very au fait with employment law. I suppose there is a legal implication to sacking someone before the 12 months are up in terms of the protection they'd get.

I can't believe they have been so heartless. Especially as the injury was "their" responsibility in an employment/legalistic sense.

I hope your lawyer rips them to pieces and I hope they get some very bad publicity as a result.

Best wishes to you and your lad and his family.
