I too have encountered one in the mist at 1am whilst travelling alongside Loch Long in Scotland , my cloth was touched too.

No, but some years ago, at about 3am driving close to home, a little deer ran in front of me and stopped.

i wasn't going fast, so i stopped PDQ, and the deer - now in front of my car, and caught in the headlights - looked at me, nudged its head upwards, as if to say 'what are you doing on my turf?' And the bu55er stayed there, staring at me! It then darted off with an elegance and grace that was pretty much poetic.

It was an oddly humbling moment.
