Hair. Cut v grow?
i have mentioned before that my local barber's opening hours are determined more by the feeding needs of the owner's ample stomach, over and above any desire to serve the local community. So it came as no great surprise to find it closed on Saturday because the local butcher had a sale on.
This presents a problem.
My hair grows really fast, and as it's been months since I had a cut, I currently look like Chewbacca. If I get my usual no2 cut next week, the timing puts me perilously close to a family wedding I'm attending in Italy, where i will see my parents. 'Oh my God!' , both will moan, 'you look like a hooligan!'. This is not the 'bella figura' aura I want to present to my uncle and his family.
If i skip the barber (not difficult, given it's rarely open), I could go to *cringe* a salon, where i will be asked earnest questions like 'what's your hair history, sir?', for a (here comes a really big cringe) *mid haircut trim*, and charged 40 notes for the privilege.
Whaddya reckon? Let it keep growing and look like a riff raff, or cut it and get a bollocking from my 'rents, and a frown from my uncle?
Even in the darkest hour, love comes shining through.
Then it doesn't seem so far from me to you.

I thought 'bella figura' was all about feeling and looking good
I'd not bother having it cut, just give it a good wash and condition and keep the locks
Bit jealous TBH mate I've not had proper long hair since I was in my late teens, early 20's

in fairness boss - and jesting aside - it's about behaving well, with pride, dignity, showing respect etc etc, thus such good behaviour, makes you look n feel good. Oh, and being dead cool helps, too (that's the bit i struggle with )

The Greedy Blokes did a whole show on the 'bella figura' thing and it seems to mean different things in different regions
I'd still go with a good wash and condtion and instead of spending money on the coiffeur I'd put the money towards a great suit and shoes
I know I sound like VD but the best suit I've ever worn was an Yves Saint Laurent it was sharp good looking and I felt like nobody was as well dressed a me

indeed they did and you're right...there's no precise definition of it...it's a bit like a gist translation...you know what it means, but the details are cloudy. Just don't mess it up! lol
YSL suit...now that has got me thinking...

If I got the greedy blokes right it's about feeling 'bella figura' for the event it's about feeling good and enjoying the wedding and enjoying good times and having happy times

That outside packaging never conceals the ample ingredients that look smothered.
Try a razor comb for that modern slashed look, I do's looks right bully keef.

Buy some decent clippers, like Wahl and DIY a 5 instead of a 2. Make sure you get some ear taper combs and Roberto e tuo zio!

Buy yourself a 'punk' wig. Green 'Mohecan' if poss.
Wear it to the wedding, with a smart suit and enjoy the reaction (at least you won't be asked to be in any photos........)
If you do want to 'impress' you can always whip it off.
Or how about a really 'obvious' comb-over wig. Give everyone a good laugh at your expense. You'll do wonders for Anglo-European relations!

Either that or buy a good hair product to comb your hair and keep it neat.
(Language barrier showed up, I hope you can understand what I mean!)
