Re: What Phrases Are You Known For......
1) 'Slow as a week in the jail' -universally applicable eg downloads, kettles boiling, clients filling in application forms etc etc. Usually gets rolled out about once per hour...
2) '..... is about as useful as a chocolate teapot' - often follows #1...
3) '...said the actress to the bishop (or vice versa)' - I appear to have an unconscious knack of slipping in 'doubles entendres' at inopportune moments, so often find myself following up with the above saying...
4) 'Have you got a job yet?' - spend half my life asking this one...
5) 'I'll have a large one...' (refer #3 ) Used in relation to cherry brandy...

Re: What Phrases Are You Known For......
"oo-err" - in a Carry-On style. Just like Haley-Joe Osmet sees dead people, "I see double-entendres";
"basically" - everything seems pretty basic to me (a colleague once counted 14 "basically's" in a 20-minute presso I once gave - shocking);
"the phucking phucker's phucked!" - often in reference to cars and electrical equipment, but never in mixed company (I'm a gent, y'see);
"ah, well - I'll soon be dead" - it's meant to be a joke, honest!
"if God had wanted us to <enter boring activity here> he'd wouldn't have invented <enter labour-saving device here>" - always a good excuse!

Re: What Phrases Are You Known For......
"Oh really" can be interesting - Yes really.
Said when you're really interested in something "Oh really" is seen as a positive statment, but when you're utterly pi$$ed off with what is being said "Oh really" is a put down.
Oh really - it's all down to not what you say but how you say it - inflection of the voice I'd say. Oh really.

Yesterday I remembered one of yours Quinny.
"Handbags at dawn!"
About me, well, they're all in Spanish...

...it's a "softer option of pistols at dawn"
WELL...just figured out there were so many silly arguments
going on between people who don't REALLY KNOW each other at all
(at the time) that it may be better to...instead of fueding like
rutting bulls...may be better to bash each other to death with
soft handbags in the enigmatic and cloud heavy hours of the dawn
...bit like the girlies do when they've drunk half an alcopop
