.iso???
OK, so I've got a file which ends .iso so how do I use it?
I know it's a CD image, but what do I do with it?

Re: .iso???
Burn it to a CDR or CDRW. Most CDwriters come with software that enables you to create a CD off a .iso image file.

Use Nero to do it, James.

Re: .iso???
don't make the mistake of copying the iso file to a CD, use the burn image option and select the iso file.
Cheers

Haha. What sort of idiot would do that?
Well, I got it right on the second try anyway. used WinRAR to extract it, then copied the resultant files to the CD.
Looks like I still used a long way around. Ho hum.

Re: .iso???
Was it an interesting .iso file
... like Alfa pics
With Windows XP - I thought all you needed to do was right click and select the option to burn to cd
I might be wrong about that though regarding an iso file

Re: .iso???
Burn image is the way to go (like Sandys said). I've never burned anything with XP. I'm Nero user.

Re: .iso???
It's an expansion pack to the game Neverwinter Nights. I generally dislike software piracy, but I can't even find this one in the shops anywhere, so there's not much choice. I try to reduce the guilt I'm feeling by justifying it because I've bought the game itself, and one expansion for it.

Usually we also have to pay for a copy.

Re: .iso???
Oh yeah, there's definitely a difference in quality between CD and mp3, There has to be, mp3 is compressed.

mp3 sucks out the heart of the song IMO.
I have used wma lossless to archive many of my CD's, but even that strips the essence out.
Bit like CD compared to vinyl

Re: .iso???
AAC is a lot better than MP3 at the same bitrate, but there is still definitely a difference.

Certainly does. I really hate Mp3's for sound quality and they sound even worse if you burn them to create an audio CD. I prefer Sony's compression format as I've always been a minidisk fan. The best way to listen to music is via original CD's.
