Re: Today I am mostly listening to

I think it's US based (as I pay $9.99 per month!)
It's a usernet group. Not very pretty but pretty comprehensive. My taste is a little "leftfield" (maybe not as specialist as your's Ant ) but I can ususally find ~80% of what I'm looking for.

As I said, it's a great source for pre-release, live, rarities etc - along with standard new releases and back catalogue. It does try and catagorise the music by genre too.

I don't like/trust the pier-to-pier type sites (Limewire et al) so this one works a treat for me. Take a trial and see what you think. I only recommend this site to other true music lovers

Oh - and you can download films/DVDs here too!!!

If I really like the album, or need a better quality recording, I'll do the Amazon thing too.

Let me know if you "get it" and I'll PM you the link for it's global search tool

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

I didn't know it was for digital distribution only. I actually like having my CDs. I like looking at my collection. And on the car, I only listen to the CDs, no MP3s or so in there.

But from what you're saying, it definetly deserves a look.

Ha ha - good on you Mr Evel!!

Did you ever get to see any of these "artists"? I was a little young (8 in 1976) to go to gigs (although we had some practice-punk sessions in my garage with my tape recorder and tartan trousers )

I made up for this with Post Punk in the early 80's though
