Cannot say what my favourite period is/was. Can't think of a bad album, but your fav's are definately top notch !
BTW, a few years ago I had the pleasure of sitting next to Davina when I flew to Barcelona . Shame it was only a 2.5hr flight !
Ok, I think you still don't know this, but I'm a HUGE Rush fan.
I have (almost) all of their cd's, Signals was stolen with my car stereo.
But I'll get it back.
However, due to where I live, the chances of seeing them in a concert are next to none...
How well do you know their music??
Oh, and BTW, great avatar.

Antonio I know their music well, having virtually everything they have recorded as a Band as as solo artists.
I got into them around the age of 13/14 as my History teacher at school was a Canadian and had been at college with Neil Peart. He then roadied for Peart when he first joined the band (Fly by Night tour) before moving to England to teach. He lent me their first 3 albums AND studio demos and I was hooked and still am some 27 years later.
Seen them 6 times, but as mentioned before not since '88, so well looking forward to September 9th.
If you have not got it already, the lastest "live in Rio" dvd set is well worth the euros!

Damn! I was starting to think that no-one else had ever heard of Rush...
I was hoping to get tickets for September, but my attempts to generate some enthusiasm from my other half have failed. She had never heard of them, but has not responded well to the introduction to their music. I tried Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals and Exit... Stage Left, but they left her cold. Didn't fancy going on my own.
Ho hum....
(and yes, I do still like The Carpenters!!! )

Wow, what a great influence.
And yes, I have Rush in Rio, both on CD and DVD. The first time I heard Tom Sawyer start I got goosebumps... Well, I get them everytime I listen to it on the concert.
And the quote you put from a song, two tumbs up, Circumstances, one of my foavorite songs by them.
I can't possibly decide which Rush's song I like best, not to mention which album...
But Limelight would be pretty close to the top, if not on the top.
And Circumstances, and The Trees, and The Spirit of Radio, and Tom Sawyer, and Bravado, and Ghost Rider, and Subdivisions, and Natural Science, and Red Sector A, and The Pass, and Time Stand Still, and... see the point??
Rush is the best.

Try Hold you fire and Roll the Bones, maybe then.
Especially the songs Time Stand Still and Bravado.
Oh, and Resist from Test for echo.

Re: Today I am mostly listening to
I prefer their earlier stuff 2112, Bastille day, Rivendell. Lakeside park But I think Moving Pictures has to be one of their best albums.
I'm sitting here listening to their Chronicles album, suberb.

Re: Today I am mostly listening to
Hehe, basically everything from Rush is worth listening to, and I have favorites in all of their different "stages".
Plus Ghost Rider and Earthshine, both from Vapor Trails are simply amazing.
The best of Rush has to be Neal Peart's drumming. It leaves me speechless everytime, you hear every beat he plays, precise as clockwork... Amazing...
And, I don't know why, but their songs are uplifting, you never get down listening to Rush.

YYZ is a great track for the car. Often forgotten. Thats the great thing with a band with so many albums - you forget how good some of the tracks really are and then one day you rediscover them.
Stick YYZ back to back with Between the Wheels ( Grace Under Pressure), Superconductor ( Presto), Stick It Out ( Counterparts) Cut to The Chase ( Counterparts) ............... B**dy hell Counterparts! Forgot about how good it is!
Sod it, just slam that in the multiplay! Mines going in tomorrow!
............and for that late night / early morning laid back drive home, slam in the fantastic eerie Losing it ( Signals)....the best track the've never done live!
" For you the blind who once could see.............the bell tolls for thee... "
Anybody fancy starting a RUSH thread..... oh dear I think we already have!!!!!!!!!
