didn't make through the whole of the video, despite the "eye candy". Kind of emphasises my previous point about crap US-oriented rock of the 1980's (see Europe, Poison, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Stryper.... should I go on??)
I didn't know that bit of history from Whitesnake. But I still like the second version more.

About that video, I agree that the music is simple, shallow, catchy and that it relies on a (very) attractive girl to catch our attention. But keep in mind that I see that one with different eyes. I grew up listening to that music, and even though I should despise it because it is pop metal, I love this one.

I added Poison's Greatest Hits to my iTunes library. I haven't listened to it for a long time. I'll see how much of it I can endure listening to.

And yes, I also LOVED this stuff...

Oh, how things change.

Still, since I grew up listening to this crap, I still like it.

But, I agree with you.

Style over substance. That sums it up. Simple songs, and a guitar player that seemed to stumble upon the simplest of tasks.

But, they had some good songs. Mainly the ones that didn't make them sound like teenagers overrun by crazed hormones.

Then again, I grew up listening to them, so my specs are a bit rose-tinted.

Just a bit...

As for today:

Jetro Tull - Aqualung

Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Arena - Contagion
