I'm glad you liked it Ant
It's off an album called Strange Times and should have been the album sending the band astronomical. As is so often the case, the record company and band not seing eye to eye (the band's strong stance as to how they should sound and be presented was not what CBS had in mind for them etc). There was no myspace/youtube or even internet for bands to independently circulate their music (only John Peel over here in those days

)
The reverie for this band is phenominal, I can't easily explain why. The songwriting is thoughtful, socially aware and articulate and easy to identify with. I'm quite a "lyrics" man (that's why I tend to shy away from most dance/DJ oriented "music").
Tracks worth checking out (if you have either the time or inclination) as a starting point would be:-
In Shreds (live video above)
* Tears - when you first hear the lyrics it will all make sense about The Chameleons. So much it prompted me, for the first and last time in my life, to write a "Thank you" letter to the lead singer...I know,

, but I was young and impressionable and - as with so many of their tracks, helped me through some difficult times. I thought I kinda' owed them......
Second Skin
Swamp Thing
Don't Fall - (the only video I think they ever did)
Mad Jack
Perhaps the single most underappreciated band of all time.
Let's just say I'm taking my Chameleons albums with me when I die
* my most favourite song of all time
Oh and btw - did you know DM have a European tour starting soon? If all goes well, a DM-nutter friend of mine will take me to see them in Rotterdam early October
