Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Dunno I only remember the exchange of folding
It was very Zep like . kind of put me off them, bit like Fish and
Marillion too much like Genesis so I can't listen to them

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

....many...many moons ago (probably1987) a freind of mine asked me
if I would go and see Marillion with him...I agreed and went

.....I have to say that it was THE most dull/boring gig I'd ever been to

And did you think they tried to sound like Genesis?

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

...yup...but not even as good

I never rated Genesis and so to see a poor imitation bored me senseless

...could never see the appeal of prog rock bands when better rock was
being expounded by Deep Purple and the like...and to tell the truth

...I always thought Marc Bolan (despite his drug habits) was better

Saw T-Rex at the Regal Edmonton , then turned into a concert hall
called the Sundown superb. Jeepster is my Favourite
I think Deep Purple lost their way after "Burn" but we were all
big Genesis fans and much to my regret I missed them on their Selling
England Tour which is my fav album Saw them later on doing Lamb
Lies Down tour .Very much a Gabriel man

h)
Steve...that's an interesting favouriite you have saying "Jeepster"...

...I'd like to say that there are also good tracks by Bolan such as
"Venus Loon" , "Life's a Gas" and "Dreamy Lady"

(the latter track coming from the "Futuristic Dragon") album from 1974

Oi!!! I'm a big Marillion and Genesis fan, although I must say I prefer to early stuff for both bands.

I've see both many times at various concerts around the country, Genesis favourite has to be at Milton Keynes bowl when the band reformed, I think it was around 1982 (god that's along time ago). Marillion, any concert when Fish was their front man.

Got to agree with that last post
Quinn I have a few T-Rex albums and yes the ones you mention
are good ,most people would go for Metal Guru but I like the lyrics
on Jeepster

A friend of mine was a Marillion fan, and I thought Market Square Heroes and Script for a Jester's Tear were brilliant.

I thought Fugazi was ok, but I lost interest soon after that.

How fickle was I then...?

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Actually, this thread reminded me how good the Script.... album was, but I have just remembered I only have it on vinyl and I don't have a "gramma-phone" anymore.....
