Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Evo & Barry...hope you enjoy tomorrow's Rush gig

...today I heard the new track by Nelly and some other bloke
(god knows what his name is)...called "My Place"...I really like it

sounds like a cross between "The Greatest Love Of All" by
George Benson (wierdly...I never really liked that) and "I'm Still Waiting"
by Diana Ross

...and in places it sounds like "I Just Don't Wanna be Lonely" by Aswad (I think)(dodgy track )

...actually...thinking about it...the Diana Ross reference is a bit off

OH!!...I like it anyway ...it reminds me of somebody

The Ministry of Transport today announced
a solution to all of Britain's congestion problems

... there's going to be a special lane for traffic jams

Brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant!

I know some of you guys have made your thoughts on RUSH's music fairly clear and obviously you either like a band or you don't - but as actual musicians there is nothing to touch them, especially Peart.

If anyone has actually seen drummer Neil Peart in the flesh in action and can honestly put their hand on their heart and name a better percussionist who is still alive (I never saw Moon), then please please please let me know so I can go see them. Whatever the style of music.

Before 2night I always thought he was better than anyone I've ever seen -including Collins, Thompson, Baker, Bozzio, Rich, Bruford, Cobham, Palmer, Powell (RIP), Bonham (RIP) - and can only say that I saw and heard the proof. Tonights solo was mindblowing!

Geddy and Alex weren't too bad on those stringy things either.

Antonio, My mate got some excellent digi-pics tonight which he will send through to me. As soon as I get a chance to play with them I will forward to you and Barry.

Right. I promise not to mention them ever again*.

*Well, I'll try not to....I really really will try....

You obviously didn't park in Wembley then. The last time I tried to park at Wembley, it took me two and a half hours to get out of the car park!

Luckily my parents live in Stanmore, so now I park there if we are going to Wembley, and take the tube.

Glad you enjoyed the concert. I would LOVE to have gone, but the other half didn't fancy it, and I would have had to take some time off the next day, as there was no way I would make it into work after a late night like that (blimey I must be getting old!!! ), and we are trying to save up our annual leave for a holiday to NZ next year.

Ho hum, I will have to make do with Exit... Stage Left at full blast on the headphones.....

I did park in Wembley, I know lots of side streets where you can park.
We were only a 5 minute walk away and it didn't cost a thing.

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Ok i've sat here and listened to you guys waffle on about Rush but quite simplying who the fcuk are they? In the 26 years of my life until this site i'd never heard of them! Which is suprising considering the broad range of music I listen to.

I've listened to the tracks on their website and seen they have a huge number of albums but I recognise nothing and i'm frankly unimpressed

Anyone care to enlighten me why they are supposedly good?? Any hits??

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Guess...............................

............................WRONG!

RATATAT - Seventeen years

Thompa, I said was going to try and not mention them and there you go with a leading question .....

Not really a 'hits' type band. They had a couple of singles in the charts in early 80's, but they didn't write too many tracks that were short enough for singles!

As you may have gathered, I quite like them, so obviously am into the songs too, but what I have always thought makes them so good is their technical ability coupled with their collective ability to put that forward in such away that its not "cold" or unmoving.

Chris - Thanks for the nod on Blink'. Only heard the stuff that gets airplay. I will certainly give 'em a good go.

Which album would you recommend for starters?

Cheers all.

Their latest is a good un, no title. Also check out Enema of the state and Take off your pants and jacket. The lyrics in their earlier albums arn't to clever - a bit teenie and they can't sing to save their lives but if you managed to look beyond that they are a very good band.

They story behind how they got their present drummer is cool too.

Re: Today I am mostly listening to

Evo- so Rush's drummer is best you've seen ,well glad he was on top
form for the gig but to say he was more adept than those on your list
is tosh. You were wrapped up in the fever of a gig you'd been looking
forward to for ages.
From where I sit the most spectacular piece of drumming came from
Carl Palmer on the 1974 ELP tour co-incidently at Wembley and his
drum solo on a very unusual sounding drum kit is something that
everyone who was there will remember vividly
and you forgot to include RINGO..
