Help Saving Electricity and money on my laptop

Wondered if anyone on here could answer a question regarding power usage on laptops. I tend to have my laptop on for 10-15 hours a day.
Is it best (ie is it cheaper) to permanently leave the laptop on charge or charge it up, run it off batteries for a couple of hours, re-charge etc. I have no idea about these things and whether it costs more to keep re-charging or just to leave it always plugged in.
My wallet needs your help!!

Re: Saving Electricity and money on my laptop

Ive wondered this myself but i think its better to leave it plugged in as im guessing the power consumption goes up when your charging and using it at the same time.

I leave mine plugged in permanently on the basis that it might be cheaper, but do wonder as to whether it is or not...

I dont think they use a huge amount anyway. The PSU's are tiny in comparison to a PC. Keep your lappy on and turn off the TV. That would be cheaper.

A voice from upstairs.

Leave it on charge permanently - modern batteries have about 500 - 800 full recharges before they die. Unlike older batteries however they don't just die regardless. What I mean is if you keep it fully charged for a couple of years it will still be capable of 500 - 800 cycles.

It costs peanuts either way. So ONLY use the battery when you need to.

I recently made the biggest saving you can make with regards to heating. I got divorced!!!
No more sweating my arse off sat in shorts and a tshirt with the fire on, central heating blasting out and her complaining how cold it is.
Savings also made on bog roll too.
