Autumn is here
This summer in Algarve was the worst I've experienced. It was windy and not very pleasant in general.I am back in Cascais(Lisbon)and the bloody wind hasn't stopped! The evenings are cold and we had some rain,Autumn is already here What is it like,in your side of the world?
ps.Americans in the path of Hurricane Ike don't need to respond!

Re: Autumn is here
Today was a beautiful day. Sunshine most of the way. Going colder now as darkness has fallen, but the barometer is on the up, and the forecast for the ensuing next few days is pretty good. No hose pipe ban, and the garden is flourishing. Summer is definitely on the wane, soon be Christmas once again!!! :

Re: Autumn is here
Yer, definite improvement over the last few days, but there is no escaping the fact that the temperatures are dropping and the evenings are drawing in. Time for me to hide myself away until the spring.

Re: Autumn is here
Yup Autumn is here, we had out 2 days of summer.
Now we have months of darkness and freezing cold to look forwards to.
I find it really hard getting up in the morning for work when it is cold and dark.

Re: Autumn is here
Ought to swop a few days with you then symonh, as it gets tedious for us laid in bed while others trot off to their place of work. Funny folk us humans, never really satisfied with our lot completely, are we? :

Re: Autumn is here
Definitely the worst summer in 13 years.
Rained most of June & July and there's
been a few showers in the last couple
of weeks.
Hot weather is back (30degC during the day)
but clouds and storms are brewing.
Mosquitoes are buzzing again.

Sorry to hear about your short summer
I used to visit the UK very often on business back in the '90's,loved the winters(no joke)
Somehow,Summer and the UK don't go together.

Re: Autumn is here
Scotland is about to tackle the Mozzie problem, as it puts some tourists off visiting, but I can't remember how they propose to do it? No bagpipe jokes please. :

Re: Autumn is here
Winter is coming.
We are about to move into our new house and have had a wood burner installed. We fired it up for the first time today - here it is.

Re: Autumn is here
Just back from Como, Italy....they too have had a lousy summer...apart from about 3 weeks of sun the locals are saying it was the worst they could remember... while we were there cloudy / rain and FANTastic thunderstorms for 4days then 3days sun...but a lot warmer than here!

Re: Autumn is here
this summer was atrocious here, honestly the worst i can ever remember (yep, even worse than last year...). but hey ho - it's over now, the sun's shining, the lawn's mowed, the car's washed & polished...
here's to a nice autumn
paul, i like the stove - the in-laws have one and it's superb
