Re: Autumn is here

despite the fact that it was sunny today, we've been stuck in a pretty much constant state of autumn since some time last year

it sucks

Well, originally, of course not.

However, since you keep going on about it I am sorely tempted. TBH - I might even take it a stage further if this carries on.

Flooring is ok but it is mainly softwood which, over time, leaves resinous residue in inconvenient places in ones chimney. If it is oak based though I'll take it.

Your furniture, however, may be a different kettle of fish. All hardwoods accepted.

Got any Birch? - the best smelling wood of all imho .

I do have a chainsaw, really, (heaps of fun) and enough petrol therein to denude all of the wood in your house.

Be round at about 12.00 tomorrow then AV.

Hmmm thanks for that....

At the end of the month the Missus and I are off to the Algarve for a much-needed holiday. I was hoping for some nice, warm, sunny days on the beach as a very welcome chill out. Is this not going to be the case?

We've been to the Algarve on a couple fo occasions before at this time of year and the weather has been perfect. Suddenly I'm regretting waiting to book our holidays this year...

Looks well tasty.

Good thing you've got it in now.

Re: Autumn is here

Well it's SPRING here. After six years of drought the lawn has large patches of dead earth and what is still growing gets eaten by kangaroos in the night (seriously). Despite European stereotypes of Australia, it gets pretty cold here in the hills around Canberra with plenty of heavy frosts in the winter mornings. So it is very pleasant to feel a bit of warmth in the sun again. Of course in January it will be 35C or more and we will be complaining about that!

Sorry your summer was a dud, Europeans. We had three weeks in Italy in June and yes, the weather was not as good as we had been expecting.

Kettle will be on mate
I have a chainsaw too, however I would not be brave enough to try and use it to chop thin flooring or furniture for that matter, I find they a bite a bit and sometimes fling themselves towards you - hope your heart can take that. Don't forget the oil for the chain, I wouldn't want that snagging on you. Oh and don't forget some sort of head gear too - something quite solid might be needed!

Depends on what side of Algarve you are going,my holiday home is close to Sagres+- 20 kms from Lagos.Towards Portimao it is pleasant but HOT and stuffy.
